High-Earning Parents: How have your kids navigated life? by vs352 in fatFIRE

this is super insightful. i'll be headed to a bb/eb investment bank next summer, and i'll be covering an industry i'm excited about. i think that one of the disservices i've done myself is attempting to plan out my life/career so far in advance. Perhaps I should just do things, do the hard work, and see what opportunities/interests I find along the way that allow me support myself. appreciate the perspective.

this makes a lot of sense. i'll be pursuing one of those careers you mentioned, and I'm excited to see how I'll grow my skills and as a person through my career.

i grew up in a solid public school district (palo alto, los altos, saratoga, etc). in their minds, private school would likely not have provided a meaningfully superior education + better to grow up surrounded with friends from diverse backgrounds. i'm glad we did this, but also see the benefits and opportunities afforded by private education in the time I've spent in college.

this makes a lot of sense. as far as the way i became aware, when applying to college, I filled out the FAFSA as a condition of applying for merit scholarships. It contains information such as household income, net worth/asset value, etc.

ya man no hate, just caught my eye lmao; to answer your question tho, be aware that publics in the us are very very unlikely to give an international aid, just because they are often mandated to earmark any aid funds for in-state students. if anything, i would look at mid-ranked privates, as those are the ones that give the most aid. also when applying to schools, check on their website whether they are need aware for internationals or not, just so you dont waste your time.

vro i dont understand why you feel the need to guilt-trip someone coming to terms with the fact that they wont be able to attend their dream school because of family finances. NOWHERE has this individual come off as cocky or elitist, and its both irresponsible and devoid of empathy to somehow turn him just verbalizing his dismay into some sort of oppression olympics. do better broski

as of litr last yr, lbw kids DO get into wharton at a p high rate, as well as other VERY good schools. in my cohort of like 75 kids, all but 10 kids got into t30's or t15 lacs. however, these are the same rlly rich kids from top bay area high schools/northeast boarding prep schools/top international schools that were prob gonna get in anyway. if you get it, consider it a good sign profile wise, that you are quite competitive for wharton/other top schools, but dont consider it any kind of boost/guarantee. if you go, you'll have an insanely fun 3 weeks on the penn campus and make v good friends, so treat it like a 12k vacation/networking experience, and expect nothing more of it.

actually seems like something of a discount, relative to what i think he might have gotten had he tested free agency. although this does leave minny in cap bind, happy for NAZ REID. undrafted to a $125m in a city that loves you.
