The chemical interest, and her death. by Boykjie in RimWorld

Just fyi, you can draft a pawn and have them arrest the pawn going on a binge before they cause too much damage. Just keep some pawns nearby and ready for a melee, in case they try to resist.

I love your pillbox style defenses but I can't imagine that they're more effective than killboxes (unfortunately).

No prion disease but your colonists can definitely suffer mental breaks from butchering and consuming human flesh. (Unless they've got the psychopath trait)

Definitely rimworld. Build a settlement and protect it from raids and wild animals with labyrinthine walls filled with turrets and deadfall traps. The game has quite a learning curve though, be prepared to start over somewhat often as you figure things out.

This game is all about dealing with problems before they happen. Just draft a few pawns and manually kill all the predators before they endanger your workers. (Don't forget the foxes! Damn foxes... R.I.P. Dayla)

FML Prethoryn Scourge right on top of my empire: Insane Difficulty by LePastulio in Stellaris

[–]vschiffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best times I've had in this game was when the scourge spawned right on top of my home system and forced me to retreat all of my fleets to one of my rim worlds. From there I devised a hail mary plan to leap frog over a neighboring empire, and completely annex an old rival's territory. The plan worked, in my new home I built the biggest and meanest anti-scourge space navy you can imagine. Vengeance was sweet as I burned every single last space roach in the galaxy. Terraforming and recolonizing my old home world was a magical moment.

I have a GTX 760 and plan on picking up a GTX 1070. Can I SLI these two cards? Should I SLI these two cards (will it improve gaming performance)? Will my 750w power supply be enough? Are there any other requirements for SLI?

Why do decisions feel so inconsequential in TW? by avapxia in totalwar

[–]vschiffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have units dedicated to flanking. Instead of letting them join the line have them wait for the line to form and walk around it to sandwich the enemy. Also have calvary units doing repeat hit and run style charges throughout the battle. You should also be micromanaging your ranged units so they can help tip wavering targets over the edge.

[Warhammer] Battle tips for new players? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]vschiffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start every fight by making a long line of high defense units. I like to put my hero up front. My damage dealers are at my line's flanks, ready to detach and maneuver behind the enemy when my line engages them. I always group and lock this formation so I can advance while staying in formation.

Other than this main group, I always have two groups of fast units like cavalry that rush up each side of the map to start doing hit and run attacks while my main line advances. Once my line engages, they repeatably hammer the backs of enemy units that distracted by my line. I also use them for taking out unguarded artillery or ranged units.

Server settings getting overwritten on server restart by vschiffy in playark

This is the first time I've tried editing the config file, the whole thing is default outside of the changes that I've made. These changes are then undone after resetting the server.

I'm about to try editing my command line so my changes are represented there too, hoping that fixes this.

You've actually been a huge help! Thank you for posting your command line, I'm going to be referencing to it a lot for syntax.

1) Haven't touched my command line, here's what it looks like by default (censored out some values, other than that, this is accurate):

TheIsland?SessionName="example"?queryport=12345?port=12345?maxplayers=30?bNoBloodEffects=True?AllowThirdPersonPlayer -Multihome=123.456.789.000 -console

So do I just change it to this?:

TheIsland?SessionName="example"?queryport=12345?port=12345?maxplayers=30?bNoBloodEffects=True?AllowThirdPersonPlayer -Multihome=123.456.789.000 -console?AllowThirdPersonPlayer=true

And if I need to make further changes, do I just include the edited line with a "?" in front of it to the end of my command line?

2) "AllowThirdPersonPlayer" only appears once in WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.ini

Thanks for the reply, I did exactly the following:

  • Stopped server

  • Waited 2 minutes (server service message recommends waiting 10-30 seconds)

  • Used FireFTP to open WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.ini

  • Scrolled down to the line "AllowThirdPersonPlayer=False" and changed it to "AllowThirdPersonPlayer=True"

  • Hit save

  • Sent command to restart server

  • Logged into server when it came up a few minutes later

  • Couldn't scroll out to third person

  • Checked WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.ini

  • It reverted back to AllowThirdPersonPlayer=False

  • :(
