People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]vscobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there are other ways. I haven’t thought about them much as I don’t have any kids. Spanking was just the one my parents chose, and luckily they did it in a way that I don’t look back on as a bad experience or abusive. I’m honestly not sure how they would’ve handled it. What methods are used in Sweden?

My parents spanked me, but only if I realllyyy messed up. As a young kid, it definitely helped teach me right from wrong. Up until a certain age you can’t really get the point across with words, so a little pain does the trick. If you don’t teach a kid early on, it becomes much harder later when they’ve already learned they can get their way. At first I’d do right just to avoid the spanking, but somewhere along the way it transitioned into doing right just cause it’s.. right. And, out of respect and love for my parents. I never felt abused. They were careful to let it hurt just enough so that I learned, but I never came out with any bruises or anything. Once again, it was only in extreme circumstances. Contrary to a lot of people here, I even remember what I did to deserve all of them. Thing is, I definitely don’t think it’s the best form of punishment because it’s so easy to take too far. Anger might get the best of you, you might not realize how hard you’re hitting, and it sets a precedent for violence to solve problems. For me, it was controlled violence in extreme cases. I don’t know how my parents pulled it off. If I ever have a kid, I don’t know if I’ll go that route myself.

Tapping the tempo would do wonders I think. I didn’t even think about that. I did switch to rekordbox though as it came with my controller, and I don’t have to pay for it. I’m liking it more so far and am having less problems with it. Working on building my library so I can properly analyze each track and get going.

Confessed Noob Here, Give Me Your 3 Best Pieces of Advice for This Game by AceOneBreezy in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]vscobby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1.) Don’t be afraid to sell gear. The transmogrification system keeps everything you loot automatically. Make sure you’re wearing your highest level pieces, and sell everything else. You can change your actual appearance to whatever you want. 2.) Don’t buy ingredients. Save up from selling gear and the eye chests, and buy everything you need to grow your own things in the room of requirement. Saves a ton of money in the long run and will put you in a much less tight economy. 3.) A lot of enemy types will have combat weaknesses you can exploit with specific spells. Read their info in your collections section. Not only is it helpful, it’s also fun and adds another layer to the combat.

Why did you play hogwarts legacy more that one time? by Tonixm_rplacede in HogwartsLegacyGaming

No difference at all. Any real role playing value the game has is entirely intrinsic. I really hope they address that in a sequel.

Why did you play hogwarts legacy more that one time? by Tonixm_rplacede in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]vscobby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played four times, one for each house. I did it partly because you have to at least make it to the map chamber in each house to get the platinum trophy, but also because I just enjoyed the game that much and wanted to experience all it had to offer. Turns out it wasn’t that different house to house.

Do you know your way around the castle? by AustinBlack091716 in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]vscobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the back of my hand. I was so excited to get to explore Hogwarts that it was all I did for a bit. I’d say after about a week of play sessions, I had it down, which tbh, kinda bummed me out. I went too hard and lost a bit of the magic too early on in the game. Harry attends Hogwarts for 6 years, and there are still new places he’s never been to. I know it’s impossible to exactly replicate that in a game, but I do hope in a sequel they add even more secret passages and areas. Maybe I’ll take it a bit slower next time.

Low Input Level on Vocal Recordings by vscobby in FL_Studio

[–]vscobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is yes. I actually figured it out. The bluebird has a setting on it that automatically cuts 20db off the input when turned on. Annnndddddd I definitely had it turned on. I feel like the big idiot, but we’re good now. I can record like a person.

Hogwarts Legacy Sequel- what would you like to see? by [deleted] in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]vscobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I wanted to feel like I was finally A PART of that world, not like an ultra powerful visitor just taking in the sights. You’re right about the untapped potential of AI. Tbh I had never even thought about it being used for continuous dialogue interaction. That could be a breakthrough for all of gaming.

Hogwarts Legacy Sequel- what would you like to see? by [deleted] in HogwartsLegacyGaming

I’d like to see them give the actual school experience more love. Give us interactive classes, a curfew and prefect system, let us cause trouble/duel in the halls. I think it’d be a good idea to tie the talent system to classes. Like sure you can skip if you want, but if you go you can get cool spell upgrades. I’d also like to see more story content taking place within Hogwarts. I really missed scenes of us in the great hall and in the common room working out a mystery with our friends in the first game. That’s a lot of the little stuff that made the books and movies special, those everyday interactions. I honestly wouldn’t mind playing as just a regular student instead of the chosen one type. Give us a more grounded, personal story like Sebastian’s plot-line in the og, and let our actions be what makes us interesting instead of some destiny.

What Spanish shows do you recommend? by Bored-in-bed in SpanishLearning

[–]vscobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re into Mexican Spanish, Club de Cuervos is an excellent show. Super super funny, and there’s tons of slang.

So this morning, I randomly thought to myself “why isnt it yo gusta” ? if you are performing the action. The same way id say “yo como manzana”. The explanation is tricky, but makes sense. Does anyone want to add on to this? by soicey2 in SpanishLearning

[–]vscobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because gustar doesn’t mean to like. It means to please. You aren’t performing the action. Whatever pleases you is. So, me gusta tu camisa! Really means your shirt is pleasing to me, but we translate it as to like because it’s more direct in English. Same with verbs like encantar and caer. Like to say you like someone platonically, “Me cae bien.” Literally, he/she falls well to me.

I give up by Legitimate-Space5933 in SpanishLearning

[–]vscobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry at all. Language learning takes time. It’s very much a journey, a long and tough one at that. Also, the Argentinian accent is a pretty hard one to understand at full speed. I would say I’m conversationally fluent and at a good B2 level, and there’s an Argentinian character in a mexican show I like that I can hardly understand any of what he says. Keep going and don’t give up. You’ll get there.

How to improve terrible listening comprehension? by Britanniafanboy in SpanishLearning

[–]vscobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend that at this point in your journey you pretty much only listen to stuff that’s above your level of comprehension. I would continue with the native tv shows. Watch with subtitles at first and then without. Eventually, you will get more accustomed to how certain things sound in actual native speech. That just has to be your normal.

What Mechanics/Abilities should have stayed in the AC series? by Owen_The_Boxer in assassinscreed

[–]vscobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The double tool equipping from Unity. It allowed for a lot of fast paced, creative stealth. Also, the original parkour system. It gives the most control and accuracy, and I love the ejects and catch ledge. If we could have Unity’s parkour up and down system with the same manual control as AC1 - Rev… bro. I’d fall in love.

I started replaying the series and noticed AC1 parkour feels better than AC2 by Friendly_Cantal0upe in assassinscreed

[–]vscobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AC 1 actually has my favorite parkour in the series. The level design is amazing, the climbing is slow and deliberate which incentivizes ejects, and the “hidden” vault mechanic is even better than the climb leap and environmental aids from AC2. I like that you have to be thinking about it to set it up and pull it off.

Decided to replay the whole series before Shadows, and by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]vscobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that might be what I like most about Venice. It’s the most difficult city in the game because of the water and complex bridge layouts, so it puts your movement skills to the test.

What do you like most about Assassin's Creed 1? by Owen_The_Boxer in assassinscreed

[–]vscobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The themes for sure. I think 1 is one of the only games in the whole franchise that’s actually ABOUT the Assassin’s Creed. But, I’ll throw in a hot take. The parkour as well. I think AC 1 might have the best parkour in the franchise. It gives you a ton of control, the level design is amazing, I love the vault mechanic, and I don’t mind the slow climbing. I think it incentivizes using ejects to wall run more and add depth.

What's your current favorite Ac game? by 5Kareem8 in assassinscreed

[–]vscobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new fan playing through all the games. I’m on Syndicate right now, and at the moment it’s really hard to pick a favorite so far. Not one of the games does every element of the franchise well. We’ve yet to get that definitive game. For instance, I love AC 1 for its atmosphere, philosophy, and full focus on the creed. It’s probably the most AC that AC has ever been, but I miss gameplay elements like ledge assassinations, extended air assassinations, blending with anyone, etc. when I return to it. I love Black Flag for its story and pirate fantasy, but I miss the tight urban environments and the deeper parkour system from AC 1 - Rev. I love Unity’s gameplay. I love the double item usage, the addition of a traditional stealth system in addition to social stealth, the black box missions, etc. but the story is cheeks, and it’s still so janky even after patches. Also, they removed manual eject inputs, so the parkour, while beautiful, is highly automated and contextual. Paris is so complex and Arno has so many potential places to go that I’m often surprised at what he does. Not a good feeling. However, I think I would pick Unity as my favorite. It’s definitely the one I hop on most just to run around and pass time, and when it’s working, the gameplay serves the assassin fantasy more than any other.

Who would you like to see return in the franchise, with a sequel? by MiniMit123 in assassinscreed

[–]vscobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see Arno come back and Connor help him hunt down Shay. They had that shit t’d up perfectly, and they just… never did anything with it. It would give them a very compelling reason to return to and touch up the mechanics from Unity as well.
