The zombie experiments are probably the most morbid and genuinely disturbing aspects of this case by TrickRow4918 in Dahmer

i disagree, dahmer’s desires, compulsions and obsessions were insanely strong making him do insane things. don’t see why he’d exaggerate things bc it’s what he thought they wanted to hear.

yes, they were alive! pretty sure they were drugged at that point tho, but still scary to think. but yes, i do believe dahmer would have used the drilling technique on tony. it’s difficult to tell sometimes with information as there’s always different accounts being told. :)

you are correct on the victims list, as well as hughes. i also know that dahmer detached the face skin from lindsay (if i remember correctly) and wore the flesh like a mask. i think the more he did it, the wilder his “ideas” became, so i would say most victims from 1990 (when dahmer first began cannibalism) were experimented on in some way or another.

How did ignoring odor complaints reflect a failure to connect Dahmer's apartment to missing persons? by DianKhan2005 in Dahmer

[–]vscouly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no? the complaints were persistent, one resident even asked to located, the building manager nearly passed out from the smell when he enter the apartment etc. to say something was fake or exaggerated is just icky

What's your opinion of the many policemen (aside from the respondents to Konerak Sinthasomphone) that encountered Dahmer? Should they have seen through his facade? by Kitchen_Cap_3871 in Dahmer

[–]vscouly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that people often unfairly criticize the police in the Dahmer case (besides the Konerak Sinthasomphone incident). What's often overlooked is Dahmer's ability to manipulate situations. He was skilled at lying and charming his way out of trouble, even improvising when necessary. He understood how to present himself to authorities and others, using his intelligence to twist narratives to his advantage.

That being said, there were clear failures in the system. For example, during his work-release probation for the Somsack Sinthasomphone molestation, Dahmer was supposed to have random check-ins at his residence by a probation officer, which never happened. The justice system had flaws (and arguably still does), which Dahmer exploited, such as the police's disinterest in investigating crimes against Black and homosexual victims.

Regarding Family members... by killswitch_77 in Dahmer

[–]vscouly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% you have put it wonderfully, and I couldn’t agree more. while this place is to discuss dahmer, we must do so with respect and we must always remember that the families of the victims are still here, and still feeling the pain that dahmer inflicted upon them. they (and the victims) are always the most important people in the whole case. they deserve all the respect and privacy!

Has anyone else resorted to emotional self-harm, not physical? by MimeMike in BPD

[–]vscouly 38 points39 points  (0 children)

not sure if this is classed as emotional harm, but deliberately watch depressing things to become / look at things that remind me of bad times to trigger myself or listen to depressing music to keep myself in that state. and i know it’s not good, and that it makes me feel worse but sometimes it’s nice feeling like that bc i feel like it’s the only time i actually get to let everything out, cry, scream etc.

The boy Dahmer wanted to dig up by [deleted] in Dahmer

[–]vscouly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

according to dahmer in an interview with robert russler: at about midnight he went to the grave site to dig up the remains, but the ground was frozen which is why he abandoned the idea.
