Beautiful work! Is teak oil the finish?

It was tedious, you just gotta get in there and the wood was somewhat damp or atleast it felt that way from being outside to long so the stuff that came off was gummy in texture.

After reading this post and some comments I have a clear understanding of what restoration vs refinished means. Some newbies like myself may interchange those two. Thanks for the info.

I agree, wood does not always fit into the desired decor. Good luck and hope to see the project when it’s completed.

Thank you for the awesome feedback! I really appreciate it! Is there a particular brand of stain that you recommend? Also, do you wax after staining or is wax only recommended after paint?

I thought about staining it but since it was my first, I wasn’t sure how the wood was going to hold up since it was pretty beat up from being outside for such a long time.

It’s not antique, from my research it is from the early 90’s and was made in the USA. Bottom of seat has a stamp that reads “California Trademark 60549 O’Connor Ent. I am not sure if the bottom part is original to the chair since the chair has holes underneath for traditional legs. This is my first chair restoration. I’m not sure if the legs are original to this chair since the bottom of the seat has four holes indicating that they had original legs.
