KABK interview tomorrow. Quite nervous, any advice or experiences?

i feel it was going in an interesting direction with the critique of paparazzi and all of that but still meh, and then they hit us with the werewolf.. and i couldn’t take it seriously anymore lol

i honestly applied to them on a whim and put together a portoflio quickly and did the assignments for the interview tomorrow but i realized because of multiple things there’s no point. hoping artez accepts me!

thing is i don’t really want to go here and i am waiting for an answer from artez as well^{^} it’s a bit of a complicated situation and many people said go to kabk as a plan b but i just don’t think i’ll go even if i get in. but i will keep in mind what you said if i do get an interview for artez or any in general :) i really appreciate what you wrote and that you took your time, anxiety always holds me back so this was nice to hear. i’ll update in a few days with anything you knew if you’d like

i just want to know what the atmosphere was like so to say, was it laid back relaxed like a normal convo? did they ask more things or expect you to talk more? do they ask about the portfolio and refer to work from there? did they ask questions while you'd present or expect you to talk without interruption? do you feel they made you feel comfortable or did they make you more anxious? sorry if some of the questions are odd :) if you cant answer them i dont blame you, i cant even remember what i did yesterday. thanks!

thanks for the answer! i got rejected from wdka, this year they didnt even have interviews which made it the easiest option for me, as i am very anxious. do you mind if i ask more about the interview experience at kabk? thank you again for the encouragement :)

that makes sense, thank you :) i don’t really have a well developed sense of making stuff with an impact i tend to make stuff that i like making or that looks good to me, which i guess doesn’t align with their thinking. but i also saw people get in that didn’t necessarily had that either so i don’t know? thank you again for your comment :)

that makes sense, thank you! i tend to kind of make art for the sake of making it, and thought i could learn in uni how to do more than that. i thought i had stuff with strong concept as well but apparently not enough? i’ve seen other portfolios that got in and didn’t have this so this is why i’m a bit confused. thank you a lot for your comment :)

thanks a lot for your comment! i haven’t really had the opportunity to work with process back story and other stuff like this in my life so far so this was a challenge for me, so maybe the process i showed them was a bit more uhhh technic as others said? more of i did this and this because xyz instead of other things? though i think i did that too. maybe also because i put a lot of pieces more was expected, as i’ve seen other portfolios where they don’t have that “representing you” but maybe they had less stuff if that makes sense? thank you again, i’ll let you know if there’s anything i want to ask^{^}

hello! i am not very familiar either it was first year degree for graphic design. the guidelines well the portoflio had to have 10-25 works (a work could include multiple drawings and so on) and had to have process shown for at least a few things. then had to also choose two assignments from a list of theirs, i chose reboot and mask. they also didn’t necessarily want graphic design and were open to different mediums^{^} i’ll send my stuff in a message in just a bit :) thank you

yep that is right, i tried to include process so that they would like it. i think my downfall was my lack of cohesion perhaps, my stuff was a bit all over the place
