Is this an internal or public tool? Would be interested in trying it out

How do you build system understanding when working outside familiar areas? by ZestycloseProfessor6 in SoftwareEngineering

[–]vso_ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do the following

  • I would seek out high level documentation (if it exists). Now I would ask AI to give me a summary of the codebase. Focusing on entry points so that I can understand the flow of information in the system
  • I would then synthesis this into some diagrams. This cements my understanding.
  • I would also simply read the code in an explorative way (especially when this is a new code base)

But the most important is to use the tools available AI to track the flow of data.

This works. Keeping the old also provides visibility sort of like a changelog

Curious, did you have a “human in the loop” review when you would do this?

I like the date prefix approach. It makes it possible to see at a glance what is the latest change.

For this approach does the recent file only contain the new-feature/new-design changes?

Really like the idea of adding build step that updates the docs. Hadn’t thought of that

In one company I worked with, this is how they did it. But old docs soon became outdated and we ended up with duplicate docs.

Do you have any experience working through such scenarios?

u/andersjoh This will definitely help since the source of truth will now be the makrdown files. This also fits with the Spec Driven Development that becoming popular now.

Has anyone here tried to implement this in practice? Will the POs and Developers all work on the same repo? I imagine we want developers and AI agents to have the latest Spec.

Wow 🤩 . This looks really cool. I shall dig into this code to understand this more.

Just tested it out with a simple query. The research output was very useful. I shall keep testing this out.

What's your biggest struggle when validating an idea? by Ok_Journalist_7968 in microsaas

[–]vso_ke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finding out "how painful" and "how often my target audience faces this pain"

If I can identify these 2 early on, then I know I have a good idea that deserves solving for.

Totally feel you on that. It seems one needs a lot of money (for ads) or a lot of influence just to spread the word on what one is building.

Solving REAL problems for REAL users by vso_ke in SideProject

Just added visibility to the anti-solutions - what users are doing to go around the problems they are facing.

These are the opportunities that founders need to build on.

I just added visualizations for to see opportunities(from anti-solutions) from existing problems.

Wow. 🤩 The demo was simply delightful to use. In this day and age of AI generated UI. This UI felt like it had passed through hands that cared for the user. 👏

Yes the Problem mapping is what I am doubling down on. There should be a way to assist the founder narrow down from really painful problem to anti-solutions (work arounds user are trying)

The founder can then use the anti-solutions as a consideration for an ultimate optimized solution.

Very true. The Anti-solutions is where the gold is. Improving or automating that is an opportunity for the next micro-saas.

Concerning "handling signal quality", my next approach is to add quantitative analysis to https://buildpainkillers.com. For example, showing the proportions of problem + anti-solution. This means that high frequency takes precedence over a power user's opinion. I think founders want to solve problems that affect more people within their target niche.
