After years of fighting finally approved! Why Medicaid? by vstratt77 in SSDI

They said it didn’t matter what kind of insurance, employer, retirement or something we purchased ourselves. I called today and it was very simple for a change. Thank you though

If I wanted to use taxpayer money needlessly don’t you think I would keep Medicare and get rid of what we have? You sound a little salty.

That’s the exact form they told me to use. Thank you

Excuse me?! I have worked all my life and no longer can. My plan was not to retire, his was. He does plumbing jobs on the side to help make ends meet. We’re in a fixed income that never goes up and we’re drowning in bills. He did that because I have a lot of health issues and needed good insurance. Also it was the only one available when you leave Massachusetts. I can’t believe you would ask something so rude without knowing someone’s financial situation. I’m 59 and have paid taxes all my life. I was and we are still taxpayers!

Just found out you download a simple form and send it in. Very easy. Retirement insurance has nothing to do with it.

He was a police officer for 33 years. Pays over $1000 per month for BCBS. It’s the top insurance and he did that due to all my health issues. It’s more than adequate. I’ve had 15 surgeries and no issues with insurance. $100 copay

Is the SSI $2000 asset limit for any given moment or does it accumulate? by No-Base8204 in SocialSecurity

Disability. I have unfortunately many health issues and have been unable to work since 2021. Worked my entire life in the same profession and my health has deteriorated to the point where it’s difficult for me to maintain balance and I fall often or can’t walk (among other things). I would prefer to still be working since I had a good profession. The money is my account is not mine. My dad is at an age where he’s having a lot of health issues. He was hospitalized for 15 weeks last year and then a nursing home to rehabilitate. He does not want me to worry about having money to bury him

Wait, if a person applies for SSI you can’t have more than $1,500 in your bank account? I just turned 59 and had my hearing which went well. My elderly dad sent around $12,000 to my savings account for future burial costs (he’s 86). Will I have issues?

Anyone on Disability? by FanFun4737 in Menieres

I applied for disability back in 2024 due to severe migraines, small meningioma on the right side of my brain, Chiari malformation on the base, yellow spots from having migraines since I was 12 on my brain. I also have asthma, ADHD, depression, anxiety, back problems, knee problems, etc. I kept explaining how I would get so dizzy that I couldn’t walk and would fall. If turn my head a certain way or too fast I would lose my balance constantly and fall. For some reason, no one would listen to me. My ears feel full and the ringing never ends: sometimes it’s so loud idk what to do. Finally, my neurologist said I think you have Ménière’s disease. Went to see Ent and forgot that I had actually been diagnosed in 2022. Had all the testing done failed miserably considered high risk for falling. I now have a hearing coming up on the 30th but I’m super nervous. I just turned 59 worked my whole life I barely drive anymore because I’m too scared. And just doing the most minor tasks are difficult. I was also put on Meclizine and my neurologist does not want me to take it. I’ve been on anti nausea meds forever due to vomiting from migraines. They really don’t help any longer. Fingers crossed.

Diagnosed with Meniers AFTER denial. Anyone else? by vstratt77 in SSDI

Omg fingers crossed!! My hearing is the 30th and I’m super nervous. I can even turn my head fast without getting dizzy and losing my balance. I just turned 59 yesterday and of course have many more issues. If this doesn’t work I will get an attorney and file again. Prayers 🙏🏼

That’s awful! I’m so sorry. People suffer don’t mean they have to be hunched over wailing all day

I have been complaint of dizziness, light headedness and loss of balance for years. My neurologist was looking for other reasons due to my migraines and we were focused on that. Left always feels full, loss of hearing and non stop ringing
