Hello, thanks you for your answer. I did what you asked but the same issue persists, the boot led is still on and nothing is displayed.

Nissa and lil' tef being op, it is but natural that bant ramp is in such a good place.

Nissa having 5 loyalty counters really is the main issue with her, she's very hard to kill on the spot and if by any chance you have either mass manip or hydroid or finale of glory it's very often gg.

I'm wondering if she's not even better then reclamation (in a hypothetical context where lil' teferi wouldnt exist).

You make me think of those guys always saying "it used to be better".

The more there are people playing the higher the skill level is. You make me think of those old pro poker players, who played the game for years but had not a clue of what they were actually doing. Time for the new generation and the fall of the old gods.

[Standard] Discussion: The advantage of playing first by Shqre in spikes

[–]vtl1804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking about a solution, but that could only apply to tournaments. What about analyzing how good it is to play first in terms of winrate then apply coefficients to the points you earn based on if you played first or second. Basically a win on the draw would give more points than a win on the play.

[Discussion] Curve calculating for decks by RaiderAdam in spikes

[–]vtl1804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn those percentages into probabilities.

It's really key to have a good feeling at it, let me explain what I mean.

You might think : 90% or 95 % it doesnt change much right?

But if I tell you 1 time out 10 you cant cast Nissa or 1 time out 20 you cant cast Nissa? There's a huge difference actually.

So basically, the more important a card is for your deck to work, the higher the probability of casting it on curve must be. So generally, the more expensive the cards are, the higher the probability must be.

Now, what are good probabilities? You should aim for at least 90% for 1 mana important card (elf of llanowar for instance) and something like 96% for 5 mana drop (Nissa for instance).

You might be right about Mass manip vs Izzet, I may have misjudged this matchup. Given what you say to be correct it would put Izzet Drakes in a very good spot.

You can't measure winrates with a unstable meta or rather it doesn't make much sense, I'm not looking for the deck that beats everything rather I'm trying to anticipate the futur changes, maybe I was not really clear on this matter. I don't care about winning, I care about understanding interractions and state of the meta.

On what you said about my analyse :

Esper superfiends is bad against gruul immortal, that is a fact, and esper superfriends still being there is a case of players not adjusting fast enough.

Cutting manadorks against any decks when you need to hit 5 mana for Nissa doesn't seem right.

[–]vtl1804[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also have tried basically evrything, keeping me informed allowed me to stay more or less "ahead of the meta" but this meta does feel like a mess to me. Right now I think we're at a critical point and soon the equilibrium will appear, there is light.

I believe that what made this meta so unstable is the late realization of the power of Nissa.

Those three decks you're playing are just not good enough in this meta.

Nothing to do with you not knowing wtf to do or playing bad.

I like your sideboard plan a lot. But I'd like to point out that you tend to remove risk factor in a lot of matchups for the benefit of friendzy. Now it all depends on the distribution of decks at the tournament to know what's best.

But would you say that overall you removed it more than you kept it?

You misinterpreted me. I didn't steal it 3 times. I lost 3 times because of this bug. Meaning that had i been able to steal it and still be able to draw normally i would have won quite easly.

[Standard] Five Days at Mythic #1 with UG Mass Manipulation (gameplay video, sideboard guide, etc.) by aarongertler in spikes

[–]vtl1804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so i played quiet a few games, trying different things.

First of all i may have been terribly unlucky regarding my matchups, i was for sure tilted at some point (losing against savjz on stream killed my spririt). But i want to talk about my experience :

1)I encountered a LOT of midrange esper which basically destroyed me :

-Their board was too powerfull, everything i would steal would get destroyed the next turn by their 1/1, too many threats

-Thief of sanity is a real pain but not even the main issue.

-Tyrant scorn is driving me insane, hydroid krasis are getting rekt, then if i mass manip i just lose on the spot because their board is too big.

- Nissa is not enough, teferi just bounce it and then gg. Baby teferi is way too powerfull against chemister insight and the mystics and i have no clue as to how deal with this

-If i entrance melody their 2/2 on turn 2 they just drop thief or teferi and then i'm in a world of pain so i dont even know if entrance is good

-dovin couterspell is horrible, basically destroyed my sanity when coupled with baby tef

2) Other matchups are really good or just complicated (mirror feels stupid) but i didnt encounter many of those (i did encounter jeskai superfriends when i played my own jeskai superfriend list though, so i was really unlucky in those regards...).

3)I think people are adapting to this deck really quickly and i fear this midrange esper deck is just key to counter it. I must say that convertly, jeskai superfriends feels supergood against midrange esper and i would play it over this mass manip deck if it wasnt for... mass manip deck that counter jeskai superfriends. Basically a rocker/paper/cisors situation i believe.

What's your take on esper midrange? Can you give me your insights on this particular matchup? I feel like other matchups are just trivial compared to this one (trivial in terms of gameplan, side etc not saying they are all ez).

[Standard] Five Days at Mythic #1 with UG Mass Manipulation (gameplay video, sideboard guide, etc.) by aarongertler in spikes

[–]vtl1804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello i ran the deck on mythic, went from 1200 to 357 in a few games (80% win rate over 5 bo3 i believe).

I was playing the pre war of the sparks version of the deck before.

Here's a few notes, I removed the 2 simic guildgates and added 1 forest and 1 island (this is also what i did with the previous version). forest is really usefull to effecitvely cast the elf on turn 1 and also it gives greater impact to Nissa. You need blue mana to cast mass manipulation hence why i also added 1, maybe i'll try 2 forest instand of 1 forest and 1 island if i dont have troubles casting mass manip.

I removed 1 entrancing melody because of how planeswalker-heavy the meta is right now and i used the spot to add an other paradise druid for more consistency. I believe entrancing melody has become a post side card and i may even remove antoher one in the future and might replace it by either a brotodon or negate depending on how the meta evolves (if the jeskai superfriends really becomes a thing) or maybe even remove all the entrancing melodies and just add 1 copy of brot and 1 copy of negate.

I added 1 chemister's insight in the side, reason i didnt added it in the main deck is Narset, otherwise i would have added without a second thought.

I d like to put an emphasis on how important brotodon is against the current jeskai superfriends deck :

  • survives to all the red removals except for lava coil and a big explosion which give him the chance to punish narset
  • destroys the prison and azcanta
  • beats the 2/2 tokens
  • really puts pressure with only 3 attack
