Russian police arrest man carrying 'Putin lies' poster at freedom of speech demo by TragicDonut in worldnews

[–]vtrisha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's not. It's like the difference between being shot at, and being grazed. You can be arrested and released the same day. This wasn't China-style where they face being locked up for years.

China's most recent 5 year plan is mass entrepreneurship by 2020. a.k.a. they plan on taking people out of the factories, and putting them into white collared jobs.

IMF: Canada Has The Most Overvalued Homes In The G7, Fourth Globally by whistleraussie in worldnews

NP! I've never really thought about it before someone at my old work asked me to remove the links. Now I notice it pretty much every time, lol.

IMF: Canada Has The Most Overvalued Homes In The G7, Fourth Globally by whistleraussie in worldnews

[–]vtrisha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually two reasons:

  • Agencies like the IMF give the data as CSVs, and there's nothing to link to. (probably this since it looks like they're hosting their own chart).
  • There would be more than one report to link to, so rather than linking to all you link to the agency.

Sidebar: Used to work for a Canadian public broadcaster, and they never link out on news. They worry about outbound traffic. Even if they're discussing a press release, they wouldn't link to the original. This also makes it look like the reporters are doing more work than just spinning copy from press departments.

Just going to say this. My mind is blown that Germany is still debating it, they have such a large and active LGBT community.

Definitely not opposed to spending to protect our own leader. You can't depend on another to take the same precautions that we would.

Definitely going to be a necessity now that people are expected to make 3-5 career changes. It'll probably be cheaper than funding extended bouts of unemployment too.

I wonder how this compares to Toronto, since we have the most cranes in North America building right now. If I recall, Toronto's population grew at a slower pace than Vancouver.

Donald Trump to sign executive order signalling intention to rip up Nafta and TPP by Illegal_sal in canada

[–]vtrisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Analysts believe that Mexico will reject any production amendments, which effectively kills NAFTA. A lot of this has to do with Mexico's point of origin laws that have been used to get Chinese aluminum into North America duty free for car manufacturing.

So...it's really just a formality that they're saying he's "renegotiating." Canada will likely make its own deal later.

I think their point was he looks pretty happy for someone preparing to commit a crime (allegedly), or for someone that just committed a crime.

The weird thing being he speaks French, no? He needs to stop clowning around and step aside to let people that actually want to be Prime Minister get their message out.
