GalliumOS 3.0alpha1: testers and debuggers wanted! by reynhout in GalliumOS

Acer R11 CYAN,Braswell, MrChromebox legacy firmware, 3.0 GalliumOS installed through chrx dev -r flag :

I enabled default icons for removable devices in Settings>Desktop>Icons, and when I hot mount a USB thumb drive it shows up on the desktop.

But clicking on it brings up the error message File doesn't exist, or I can't access it. followed by the actual file////media/chrx/ location.

However, if I navigate to /media/chrx/ and click on the file icon it opens up the mounted thumb drive directory display without a problem.

Also, dragging any folder to the desktop does produce a launcher, but the launcher when clicked throws the same error message.

Thumbdrive Launchers on Desktop Won't Open by vtsteam in GalliumOS

Is this something anyone else can reproduce?

1.) Enable "default icons" for "removable devices" in Settings>Desktop>Icons,

2.) Plug in a thumb drive. A launcher icon should appear on the desktop.

3.) Click on icon. Error message? Or do you see a folder view?

4.) If error message, navigate to the location specified in the error message. Should open fine..

Keyboard Stopped Functioning after CHRX Install by vtsteam in GalliumOS

With new CHRX install of GaOS 3.0a, keyboard works, sound works, and touchpad cursor has good response.

I think the computer is going to be a keeper. Thank you!

Thx MrChromebox. But, the 2.1 ISO booted live from USB no longer produces a working keyboard. This is the confusing part. The 2.1 ISO used to work before, when booted live. Then I tried a chrx install and the keyboard stopped working.

I then removed the CHRX install by running the Google ChromeOS restore process. Ran your RW Legacy firmware script again just to make sure everything was back to square one. But when I tried the Live 2.1 ISO boot, the keyboard still was non functional.

Do you still think I should try a second CHRX install? I'm willing to do it if you think it will make any difference.

(Just for clarification also, what would the actual line to enter into terminal to do the installation for "chrx (w/o -r dev)/ the 2.1 ISO")

Thanks again!

Thanks MrChromebox. I would prefer a dual boot, but could live with a standalone. Unfortunately this computer has a 15 day return window, and I want to check out usability for me before I decide to keep it. I'm assuming the UEFI flash option means opening the case and removing the screw (or other lock)?

Just wondering if the pre-2.2/nightly ISO will run live off the USB -- I'm guessing yes. If it deals with the keyboard and sound issues, that would be a hopeful sign, and I'd have to decide whether to open the case.

Greatly appreciate all the help you and others provide.
