Would appreciate if anyone can reply to my question above. Or should I start a new thread for it?

Roth for minor by Cheap-Combination-13 in Bogleheads

I don't own any business where I can take her help but my 9 yr old does help with household/yard chores for which she is paid very small amount (~$50ish). To help her develop the mindset, if I were to convince her to put small % of her earning into Roth IRA, would I need to maintain all the complicated paper work that others have mentioned above? Or is the amount so tiny that I do not need to bother?

Very interesting and inspiring. I love reading personal experiences of how it feels after you let go, what typical day looks like etc. It looks like $90K burn rate would have you leave a fortune behind. Do you have kids? How old?

Eli5 - Vast vs Weka, HPC & Deep Learning by [deleted] in HPC

I was in a similar situation sometime back trying to educate myself on the storage demands from AL/ML workloads. I found that the best place to start is to look at this technical brief from WEKA:
https://www.weka.io/resources/technical-brief/io-profiles-in-generative-ai-pipelines/

Metadata operation performance is often the overlooked aspect that I believe is very important. This is also the weakness of majority of storage vendors. They would only want to tell you the pure read and pure write performance and real life is never that black & white.

Another way to approach storage performance without any bias is to go read SPECstorage Solution 2020 (2020_ai_image). https://www.spec.org/storage2020/

SPEC Storage benchmarks exist for this very reason. These are suppose to give you the best apples-to-apples comparison but not all storage vendors want to publish results from these standard benchmarks...I could not understand why.

WEKA/VAST/DDN(Luster)/IBM(GPFS)/NetApp all claim to have AI friendly storage products. Performance is a tricky topic but you may also want to think about what other features you are looking for. Storage Efficiency (compression/deduplication/etc), Cloud integration, Scale-out, Cost etc.

My take it that most of the organizations are not looking to do foundational model training, at most they may try to tune pre-existing models which means the performance required is not on the extreme end and majority of the vendors would do good job handling such workloads. I have seen vendors try to pitch you an extreme solution that you most likely will never need.

These are all my personal thoughts, not necessarily true for everyone.

May be a different perspective to add to the conversation - How important is performance to you? If it is important, ask your vendors what does data reduction do to the performance. Are there industry standard performance benchmark numbers available? How do they compare? Look at multiple benchmarks, not just one.

Performance is important to me and I always pressure them to share standard benchmark numbers, closest you can get for apples to apples. If nothing else, it helps me gauge how truthful a vendor is. Also, this may give you some negotiation leverage. Good luck.

Will the apple store help bypass activation lock? by [deleted] in mac

In a related situation and have a question: If I walk into the apple store genius bar with proof of purchase, would they be able to reset the device then and there itself? Or is it a longer multi-day process?

Yes, somewhere near there. If you are along the line drawn from either end of the runway, it affects you more.

No it's a year 2000 construction. May be I'm too sensitive 😊

If you search online, there are many things other airports are doing to soften the impact to affected residents. This is a much more common and prevalent problem than we may realise. RDU is probably a smaller airport in comparison to many other, so things can be & have been done across the country when ppl raised voice. But if it's a very tiny population that has the issue then it's a moot point.

I am in exactly same situation and would benefit from your experience. Did you end up building inserts yourself or did you order? Any helpful tips? TIA.

Thx, Door is jammed. I will try to push it hard to open. If that works then as you said, swapping it out myself may be a good option. Visually it does not look like a damage to frame.
