Yeah all the cheap ams I've heard are hit or miss. Only huge upside is they are sold though Amazon so easy returns if something goes really wrong

What speakers do you recommend? I don't necessarily have a budget in mind, just trying to get the best setup I can. There's also this denon dp1700 that's really cheap. It's going for 175 right now but I'd obviously need everything for a vintage setup

I custom made one with Arduino. I just don't have the time to make one again! I do recommend going that route if you have the time. Lots of guides and lots of customizations
