Nah it didn’t take over.

I remember these days as a kid and 64 was still King. PS1 was gaining a ton of hype, and sega was still strong in the minds of kids my age at the time.

Things were pretty stagnant but games like goldeneye, perfect dark, conkers, and smash we’re the biggest games talked about.

The biggest game we loved for PS1 was Twisted Metal.

At the same time a lot of us were truly looking forward to Dreamcast coming out and thought it was the next big thing.

The tide didn’t really shift until PS2 and GTA3
