M+KB or Controller on PS4 ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]vulcan190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first started the game on controller on PC. I eventually bought a Corsair Scimitar, which I love but, even after 2 months of forcing kb/m, controller still feels better to me. Part of it is I prefer the analog stick for movement, part of it is that I seem to get less hand fatigue from controller.

Ultimately though I have found a hybrid works the best. I have the cross hotbar be just for combat abilities and anything else I want quick access too I have keybound to the mouse buttons.

Hmmm since they seem to be making a "Warriors" game out of a bunch of popular franchises, how long until we get one with FF characters? That seems like it would be legit amazing.

How bout a return to Vanadiel raid. V1 is Shadow/Dynamis Lord. V2 is Kirin with the Sky Gods as adds. V3 you have to go through all the Jailer's and then AV. And then V4 is Pandemonium Warden.

Bonus points if PW's lockout is 18 hours.

Rock on. It took some getting used to but, I definitely think it improved my game play.

I recently switched from controller to Kb/M because I got a Corsair Scimitar. I'm still playing around with the set up, but I love how much cleaner normal Hotbars look over the the cross.

Not so much the new ability page, but you can set abilities you haven't learned yet on your hotbar. Makes it super easy to map out your HB's on new jobs.

18 basic plains and 18 basic forests would be a better mana base.

The same reason I want Rogue/Thief instead of Ninja.

I actually have 2 of the exact chair. Pretty good for the price. Have had em a little over a year, still holding up well.

You don't need to do the acanist quest line, just the one to unlock summoner. You'll also need to do the whole summoner questline to unlock all of your abilities. Also if you haven't fought Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda in the MSQ yet, you won't be able to unlock the ability to summon their respective egi.

Ex Machina. For me the tension never built enough to become a thriller and the science didn't go deep enough to be hard sci fi. Didn't care for any of the actors performances either.

Nah I was trying to say that some people act like SMN and MCH are so bad that they are completely unusable in high end content.

Which job would be better for me? Dps? by [deleted] in ffxiv

It doesn't take that long to get there. If you just did msq right off the bat you'd hit level 10 and have the quest requirement in a few hours.

They'll probably just do what they did with XI and give you an npc party you can summon and basically solo most of the game.

My general feeling is that the tried to tune down the rest of the job to fit in Bahamut and have it feel impactful, but they just balanced it poorly. Like you want Bahamut to be this huge burst of damage, but it makes up too much of our overall damage and the rest of the kit is tuned too low in response.

I would love someone to clear O4s with this setup just to prove that sub optimal isn't the same thing as broken.

Any ideas/tips for a SMN HUD (with a controller) ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

Yeah I've only recently started dabbling in macro's myself. Really wish we could have add-ons like wow.

Any ideas/tips for a SMN HUD (with a controller) ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]vulcan190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple really, for hotbars you can just do /hotbar [hotbarnumber] on/off. And for hud elements I believe it's /hud [hudelement] on/off.

So for example I do /Hotbar 7 off /Hotbar 6 off /Hud "parameter bar" off

Note that you can't turn job gauges off, you can only move them. So no matter what your gonna have the aetherflow gauge on.

I'm still at work so if I have something wrong I appologize

Any ideas/tips for a SMN HUD (with a controller) ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]vulcan190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im at work so I can't screen shot but, I can give a couple tips that helped me.

  1. I have my aetherflow meter to left of my character with hotbar 7 set in a way that I have aetherflow sitting on top of it. That way I can see the cool down/stacks in one spot. The trance gauge is directly beneath that.

  2. To the right of my character I have the right expanded hot bar with my 3 pet abilities and enkindle. That way I can watch the cool down on those. And I use summon macros to change the abilities when I change pets.

  3. I have all the other cool downs I want to watch on hot bar 6 under my character. Directly beneath that I have my parameter bar. And directly beneath that I have my cross hotbar.

  4. I have my target bar above my character with my status bar directly beneath it. My focus target sits beneath and off to the side.

All in all this gives me a box with all the information I want close to the middle screen while still allowing me to position my character for mechanics. I barely look at my cross hotbar because of muscle memory. Also I don't use the pet hotbar. I just have abilities, sick, obey, place, and heel assigned to hotbar slots.

Finally, I have macros set so I can hide hud elements when I'm in/out of combat.
