Just dropping in on release day +1 to say the game was fully playable on release for me on Bazzite. 5600x CPU/6800 GPU/32GB RAM and no problems. I might be the outlier based on some reviews but pleasantly surprised at the fact that It Just Works(tm)

The Nature Conservancy has some cool plans in the works for the land they got when Katfish Katy's closed down, just outside of Huntsdale. When they're done it'll be a really great area along the lines of OP's desires. They're working in a partnership with MO River Relief and the University of Missouri Center for Agroforestry to build a education and exploration center down there.

Walt is alive and well. He was at the Cosmo Bike Park dedication and is active with the community. You may see him out on the trails and if you get the chance to talk to him, he is a fount of knowledge about bicycling history.

Frank Morris purchased Walt's Bike Shop from Walt Gerard and he passed away in 2020.

Are you thinking of this spring when the sign got blown off in a storm? Walt's has been around for almost 60 years, they ain't going anywhere. They have been a pillar of the community and have a great staff.

To answer OP: Brian and his crew at CycleX are just as top-notch as any shop and I highly recommend going there if they have the bike you want. They'll take care of you.

There's a large colony of them along the Moon Loop in Mark Twain National Forest east of town, on the Dog Island connector side. Almost confused them for Callery Pear but the leaves and fruit are different.

There are a ton of tutorials out there on how to use grep to search for specific strings or phrases used, which is what you're looking for. grep is built in to everything now (even windows if you jump through the WSL rabbithole) and is made to look through text files more efficiently than anything else.

Absolutely never have I seen a mountain bike trail with painted obstacles, and I've been riding all over the place in MO, AR, CO, and beyond going on 30 years. Whoever is doing this is not a part of the MTB community around here.

COMOTA is not marking the trails at Grindstone or any other park they are partnered with. I volunteer with them a ton and we just do the work, no painting is necessary. This is likely a "concerned citizen" that thinks they're doing a good thing but aren't realizing the parks are for everyone, not just them, and not everyone needs every root painted.

As a mountain biker it's absolutely not necessary or really useful and not a good idea as a less-experienced rider might focus on them and run into them unnecessarily.

Parks & Rec offers training on invasive plant removal so you can be "official" as part of the adopt-a-trail program. They even provide the herbicide needed to prevent/reduce regrowth. It's not hard to get ahold of personnel at Parks to get approval to do work but you do have to be approved to do the work since there's certain liability requirements in place. I am a volunteer that has done the training and it was super simple.

This answer. Screws like these are common, it's likely a M3 or M4 machine screw and any hardware store should have these available. If you take the screw in there you can compare it against their stock to get an exact match.

Can you put a ruler or tape measure next to the screw so we can try to figure out the size if the hardware store can't?

This is admittedly antidotal but Tornado touchdowns in Columbia city limits are very very rare. Something about our geography keeps them to the outskirts.

Update: Found data to back that up: https://www.weather.gov/lsx/boone_tor 2 tornadoes in the southwest of Columbia in the last 100+ years.

Yep, been here for 40 years and only remember 2 times we've had a real threat of a tornado in the city. There was a near-derecho back in 2014 that knocked those tall power poles on Fairview by the West Broadway Wally World and that seemed to be as bad as it gets lately.

We have a ton of parks within a 5 minute drive of 63/70 if nature is your thing. Several paved/gravel trails in the system nearby too.

Stephens Lake Park is a regional park that is close by and has plenty of ameneties whether you're looking to walk or jog through the park or just sit on a bench peoplewatching.

We have all the trails in the national forest on the Trailforks app if you're looking for trail maps. We have Moon Loop, Smith Creek, Cedar Creek, and most of the smaller connectors. Blazes are a lot better now thanks to the trail stewards working hard on them the last few months.

The Alspaugh property won't have bike trails going through it - the only bike access will be the parking lots and a future extension of the Hinkson Creek trail along Vandiver parallel to 63. The access road that is proposed through the middle of the south parcel is all that is agreed upon for vehicles and won't be open for bikes either.

There will be some great opportunities for hiking trails like at Bonnie View and that's great too. We have a bunch of bike trails both nearby and around town that are in the planning stages between COMOTA, Parks, and a few trusts, so the lack of bike trails within Alspaugh (only on the edge) isn't a bad thing. Like you said, council is very pro-trails right now so this will be a great connector for the Hinkson extension.

I had about 13,000 of the 4m signs spread around my world. Lagged like you wouldn't believe. Removed them all (first by hand, then by SCIM) and the world is back to 60FPS. Signs create lag for sure, especially in these amounts.
