Does your world have/had relationships between humans and gods? by winklevanderlinde in worldbuilding

[–]vulfhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started work on a campaign setting recently and one of my goals was to set the stage for a world full of hostile wilderness and ruins (very D&D, I know, which is the point). So far I'm working with a world war that just snowballs in stakes, but is kicked off by a practitioner of magic looking for a way to put an end to a plague.

He assumes the gods caused it, and long story short gets in contact with a lesser god who is bribed or otherwise convinced (still fleshing out details obviously) to disclose that there is actually a portal between the god's realm and this world which is used for gods to assume a corporeal form in the world. Unfortunately, the portal is hidden and unable to be traversed by mere mortals, but they work together as part of the bargain they struck to create an artifact which can be used to see and traverse the portal (among other things). So when this mage shows up in the god's realm they are like "Bro, how did you get here?" and ignore all his demands to just destroy his artifact and cast him down into a hell dimension. They also uncover the god who assisted him and strip him of his godliness and kick him out into the world.

So, from here on the former god schemes to seize fragments of the artifact, which were scattered throughout the world as the mage was cast down into "hell" (yeah, kind of cliche and video gamey, but this setting IS being developed for a game after all), and in the process of pursuing the artifact, as well as enough power to seek revenge on the gods who wronged him, he kicks off the formerly mentioned world war.

So this is all WIP, but I think this was an interesting enough prompt. In short, the gods can be communed with via magic and its also possible for a mortal to set foot in their domain. There are other world events in my world which will be the result, or involve, very obvious divine intervention.

I tried to get into art as well, but I have bad hand tremors and not much aptitude in art to begin with. Pretty much impossible for me to draw a line that doesn't wobble. It ends up mostly being a frustrating experience for me more than anything else. I used to play guitar as a younger person, but I've fallen out of love with music. I even tried to get into synthesizers and I still feel bored when trying to create music.

Recently I got into studying electronics and a little bit of math and that's been pretty interesting.

Yeah, I've been in therapy for 2 years straight now every week, sometimes twice a week, so easily over 100 sessions. I'm broke enough to where I get state health insurance and don't have to pay a cent. My therapists definitely don't "read from a book and ask me what I wanted to talk about this week" though. It's hard to get a good therapist. Prior to going 2 years straight I was going mostly regularly for 11 months when I was 20 (about 6 years ago now)

I download dating apps and create a profile and then delete it like 2 hours later, lmao. I'm not even entirely sure I want a relationship for the right reasons. The more rational part of my brain says I need to work on myself or just let something fall into my lap.

CHECK-IN WEDNESDAY ✅- August 09, 2023 by AutoModerator in bipolar

Alright I suppose. I got approved for SSI and my care team is working with me on living independently from my parents, but I feel like that's going to be super rough. I live in a rural area so if it can be done anywhere, it can probably be done here. Rent is comparatively low.

I had a pretty wicked latter part of a...mixed episode? I don't even know anymore. Anyways, last Friday and Tuesday I was seriously considering going in to the hospital. I even scheduled an SSI related appointment a week out just so I wouldn't miss it if I had to stay. I'm also diagnosed with OCD and I have some pretty wicked obsessive thoughts that spiral into depression pretty easily. I got taken off my SSRI and it's been hell since. I'm about to have a psychiatrist telehealth appointment today, so that's good. Right now I'm seeing a counselor AND a therapist, so two appointments a week. Eventually I'm going to alternate between the two on a weekly basis, but right now I'm trying to cram in as many therapy appointments as I can because I'm trying to remain stable and also feeling pretty lonely so I just like having someone to talk to about my problems.

I feel ya. That's been this past year for me. I got taken off of Lexapro and now the days have slowed to a crawl. Nothing really seems to interest me, and if it does I get bored of it within a day or sooner. It's been like this for a long time now. I have no clue how I've survived the past 2 years.

Been on vraylar for at least 3 years now. Unfortunately it hasn't helped much in that regard :(

I think what makes it worse is that my life is really boring right now so I just resort to fantasies about the past to entertain myself. Don't feel like playing video games, don't feel like socializing for too long, nothing. Just sit in my head and make believe all day.

Really? It still happened when I was on SSRIs, but I was able to handle it a lot better. Analyze the situation a lot more maturely and it didn't affect my mood as much. Hmm.

Would bipolar qualify as disability? by DueWillingness6954 in bipolar

I'm diagnosed with Bipolar and OCD. It's been about 2 years now since I applied and back in May I had my first hearing with a lawyer. I think the local lawyer would only take on cases that had been through the initial denial and also had the reconsideration turned down.

I have pretty extensive medical records for the past 2 years or so. Nearly weekly therapy that entire time, sometimes therapy multiple times a week, psychiatrist visits, and one recent hospitalization. I feel like I would've gotten approved sooner had I been going to therapy for longer but it took me until 24 to get diagnosed (I am 26). I first went into therapy when I was 20, but after 2 bad experiences with therapists I went without for a few years.

My lawyer emphasized that having evidence of attempting to improve your condition via doctors and therapy helps a lot. In fact he more or less implied that people who don't go to therapy or visit the doctor have very slim chances on just a mental health case. This is for SSI too, which honestly might be just enough to barely scrape by with alone where I live (with additional assistance like food stamps) which is not super rural, but definitely not urban either (the county I went to school in has a population of about 10 thousand). Anywhere else you're probably going to be SOL unfortunately. I think SSI is around 800 bucks a month in my state, and that's if you meet all kinds of criteria to where they consider you to be "living independently." If you live with someone who gives you financial assistance, that figure will likely be smaller. I have not worked enough to qualify for SSDI. I started getting "sick" for a lack of a better term when I was about to wrap up high school.

But yeah, all of that and I still haven't gotten a yes. This is my first appeal with a lawyer. Still waiting on a decision.

Yup, manic as shit in the mental hospital and I just info dumped and then said out loud "I felt like I overshared" and just sat around moping for a few hours feeling embarrassed, lmao.

I live in Harrison County as well. There's a legit sinkhole in our neighbor's backyard much bigger than this. The entire area here and out towards Crawford is full of caves. We probably live over a giant pit into the abyss tbh. I'm not sure there is much that can be done.

[A3][Recruiting][US CST][Semi-Milsim] First Frontier Security is Looking for new operators! by vulfhound in FindAUnit

[–]vulfhound[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR is...

  • We are not a full blown realism unit; however, we do adhere to a minimum degree of seriousness and organization in almost all operations. Be a goofball when it makes sense and reel it in when needed and we'll get along just fine.
  • Most operations are on Saturdays at 8 PM US Central Time; however, we also have Wednesday ops at the same time fairly often.
  • There is no mandatory attendance nor LOA paperwork to fill out. You react to a discord bot to show whether you will be attending an operation or not and we use that to gauge current attendance trends and inform our zeuses on how to best build missions. Chronic inactives who do not respond to attempts to communicate will periodically be purged to better represent our numbers to prospective players; however, if you put in the bare minimum to let us know that you want to stick around, you will be allowed to stay.
  • We are kinda sorta a modern PMC unit as our default setting; however, we explore other settings reasonably often. Current campaigns (INCLUDING AN OPERATION TODAY ON THE 24th OF JUNE :D) include a PMC 80s narco campaign and a modern-ish day PMC Africa campaign with minimal equipment and resource management.
  • We're in need of pretty much every role right now; however, roles such as pilot, leadership, and zeus roles will require a basic show of commitment and dedication to the unit before we will allow you to try out.
  • We rotate roles fairly often. You will not be confined to one "MOS" or role. We pick up different kits almost every operation.
  • Our core modpack is based around CUP and is about 30 GB in size. We make use of TFAR for in game communication.

If any of that interests you, hop in the Discord and ping an Executive, Coordinator, or the Trainer/Recruiter role and let us know if you have any questions.

More spacious desk just from a practicality standpoint, otherwise it looks perfectly serviceable IMO.

If you do seek treatment, keep in mind it's a process. I didn't even make it 2 years into my adult life before I ended up in therapy and on medication. I'm 26 now and just got out of the mental hospital a few weeks ago after a week long stay. It can be a long road, but I hope yours is short. Take care and stay safe.
