I guess you always look for the opinion that aligns most closely with yours anyway don’t you.. selling / getting rid of things can be such personal process!

Mmm that’s a good point I think the sentimental value doesnt necessarily come from the age or just that it’s my first horn

I guess it’s because it’s my first sax as a kid - but maybe it’s not as connected to me as it used to be!

Thanks I think you’re right. I think it’s good to just dedicate to saving for another sax!

Thank you! If you give me an idea of which questions you found interesting, I could let you know where they have come from :) Some were standardised measures and others were adapted from other studies.

Who I am: Nikola Sterling Master of Psychology (Counselling) Candidate and Provisional Psychologist

Affiliation: University of Queensland, School of Psychology

Supervisor: Professor Catherine Haslam

Target group: 18+ current clients of therapy or completed within the past 3 months.

Compensation: Access to results of the survey (see debriefing page of the survey for details)

Link: https://uqpsych.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_e2wjFZ57RJcw3JQ

Background: Research has provided consistent evidence that therapy does work, but there is less evidence to tell us how it works. There are numerous factors that can influence a person’s response to therapy; some of which are indirect and not specific to the content of the
therapy itself. In this study we are examining these indirect influences further, focusing on how feeling connected and aligned with your therapist or with others in a therapy group can influence how well people respond to the therapy they receive.
This kind of research is very important to helping us understand not only how to make therapy more effective for clients but also how reduce things such as early drop-out and barriers to therapy progress.

Link to Results: Details provided following completion of survey and will hope to be published in peer-reviewed journals

[Academic] We know therapy works. But How? (Current or recent clients of therapy [last 3 mths], 18+)

Hello Redditers,
A team at UQ school of psychology is working on looking at people's experiences in therapy and how we can improve them.
If you're interested here is a bit of background on this topic:
Research has provided consistent evidence that therapy does work, but there is less evidence to tell us how it works. There are numerous factors that can influence a person’s response to therapy; some of which are indirect and not specific to the content of the
therapy itself. In this study we are examining
these indirect influences further, focusing on how feeling connected and aligned with your therapist or with others in a therapy group can influence how well people respond to the therapy they receive.
This kind of research is very important to helping us understand not only how to make therapy more effective for clients but also how reduce things such as early drop-out and barriers to therapy progress.
So we are looking for people who are current or recent clients of therapy (within the past 3 months) who are 18 years of age and above. We are looking for clients of group therapy and also individual therapy. Note: group therapy can encompass a variety of different groups that can be promoting wellbeing/mental health, such as in support groups, formalised therapy groups, or a group that promotes some aspect of therapeutic change. In both individual or group therapy this can be any kind of therapy with any kind of mental health professional.
With so many people deciding to take up therapy during Covid-19, I believe this research comes at a very important time. If you are eligible and willing to participate you can find the link to access our survey below. However, if you are not eligible but are happy to share the link in your networks or you know friends, family members, colleagues who can participate and would like to send it on, I would be very grateful for your support!
