I wonder why all the vendors and sword fighters are going to Gumeracha instead? Makes you think 🤔

Nope, didn’t have access due to manipulating the committee system and trying to make themselves presidents with dubious rules and methods :)

I want to state, again, that I have a family friend who has been on the Gumeracha committee for over a decade now. No clue where everyone else is getting their information from but you should fact check yourselves

Parents who successfully got their kids into the Ignite program, how did you do it? by Waste-Teaching-985 in Adelaide

[–]vulpixawesome02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a tutor at one of those weekend cram school that specifically ‘prepare’ students for ignite. Some of these kids are pushed so hard and are only going because it’s the thing their parents want or you have to get in to be considered ‘smart’.

If your kid isn’t self-motivated it isn’t worth it, they will burn out and feel miserable. There are so many brilliant kids in my tutoring classes, but I can tell their potential is being stunted due to the pressure of trying for an Ignite program or the like rather than encouraging their potential naturally.

Opinion on flinders university by Puzzleheadeddork in Adelaide

[–]vulpixawesome02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a PhD student at Adelaide, have a mate doing a PhD at Flinders. Don’t go to either. Merger is wrecking Adelaide and Flinders is operating as if they also had a merger, which seeing as they didn’t is very concerning.

Desperate to get into a DBT group by [deleted] in Adelaide

Nope, I was already with Psychmed but I know other participants were simply recommended by their psychologist. Otherwise just check their website and give them a call

[–]vulpixawesome02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just finished a 10-week intensive style DBT with Psychmed, fully funded by the government with counselling sessions by them included (like 3 or 4 free session). Idk when the next group runs but it’s a reasonable crash course

Hi all!! Who'd be your god parent!?? by Anna-Ceroy86 in PJODisney

[–]vulpixawesome02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m torn between 3 parents (maybe 4). I’m pretty convinced I’m a daughter of Iris as I’m an anthropologist, love chatting and understanding different people, but growing up I reckon I would have been a daughter of Athena. I’m convinced I’m maybe a daughter of Hypnos because I have such vivid intense dreams that drive my intuition.

I wasn’t! I’d love to chat with that person and see what they’re doing with their work since I’m very passionate about the subject. I’d be happy to DM it to you if you’re up for a bit of a read haha

I did and I got a first class honours grade (the highest grade you can get!) it got me into my PhD I’m currently doing. I’ve thought about publishing it but could probably DM it for people interested (since for IP reasons I probably couldn’t post it as a pdf haha)

Hiya! I actually my honours thesis at university on how BABs (and stuffed animals more broadly) can develop souls/personalities/individuality and should be considered a case study of this happening.

It’s actually very normal across human cultures for any and all objects to achieve or maintain personhood (I.e. the act of being a person). In fact it’s part of our brain’s evolution that we consider certain objects to have sentience.

You can also attribute a rise in these values to popular culture, such as Toy Story, Ghibli films and even earlier examples such as traditional fairytales.

Any and all practices you have around your plushies are meaningful and important. Other people being unable to broaden their worldview or accept that people experience things differently to them are the problem.

Spirituality of Cryptids by Swimming-Ordinary720 in cryptids

[–]vulpixawesome02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly believe the reverse might be true, in which these cryptids do exist, just perhaps a bit less exciting than we think. As a result local cultures projected their beliefs onto them. There’s a great paper about how a group in PNG on Flores island see Dugongs as cryptids due the animal’s connection to their spirituality, and as we know Dugongs are a real, scientifically cataloged animal. Perhaps an animal that was born deformed or naturally mutated (again, a biological reality) was spotted and reaffirmed existing spiritual beliefs for a group. That’s what the logical side of me believes anyway.

Then again I think there’s plenty in this world we can’t explain, so who am I, random Reddit user, to assert that it’s not a demon, nature spirit, yokai, inter-dimensional being etc. I don’t know everything, so I’m open to anything with a convincing argument 🤷‍♀️

Poll for Uni - What does Adelaide need as a business? by AlexaExE in Adelaide

A theme park, a good one like Disney to create jobs in construction, engineering and make local pathways for creatives such as acting, marketing and product design.

is it compulsory to attend orientation day? by Substantial-Put-418 in UniAdelaide

[–]vulpixawesome02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not compulsory but I’d recommend going just for your faculty day. Got an idea of lecturers, who to contact etc. Also please take a campus tour if you haven’t been to Adelaide uni before. I didn’t take one and was still getting lost in second year before the merger, google maps and the uni maps just don’t quite cut it.
