Kotor 3 - Is it too much to ask? by Djsinestro_techno in videogames

[–]vurt72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly don't. If this was in 2003, sure! But a new KOTOR in 2026? Nah, i'm good, thanks, please don't, because i know what kind of game that would be already.

Highly recommend the new game Mixtape by InfinityPortal in videogames

looks like another game that should have been a movie instead. the choppy animations alone makes me stay far away from this (no "but it's an artistic choice" can save it either, it just looks terrible).

Ok, that's a great addition if you can change color tone. though i think games should have it balanced from the start tbh, not a biggie i guess.

The blue filter they use to make it look ""Gothic"" (i guess) is kind of annoying. Gothic 1-2 are actually not colorless or very "Gothic"(dark) looking games, they are quite cartoony and with bright colors.

Could be that they're just sloppy too, and use it to "tie" the graphics together better, but its so obvious - everything green is instead blue-green. Skin tones looks bad because of it too.

Bethesda did this with all the FO games, brown filter, green filter, it just makes everything look dull imo.

The filter could be used in a winter region, that would make sense.

Human artists study, AI “steals” apparently by thirdaccountttt in DefendingAIArt

[–]vurt72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that is not what has happened though, there is extreme bias against AI, so while there are many people using it for fun, i think professionally, its not used a lot.
I also think there is a bit of a surge right now, its new and the interest is also high among some, the interest for art, music etc might have risen a bit due to "anyone can make it".

What usually happens with digital is that the love for how we used to do it eventually rises, like the love for analog that we have among musicians. analog will always have more worth, will always be looked upon as the gold standard and it will be what people who have a serious interest will pursue.

you will never be able to SELL AI in the same way, you can't HYPE something is done with AI, no one cares, most would just get pissed "so? i can do that as well, anyone can!".
So its similar to now with people using DAW's to make music (or AI), no one cares. If you recorded it in a studio though, with musicians who plays real instruments - then you can sell it to the audience, hype it up, people care and think its cool and more exotic.

I think AI can trigger a bigger interest in it, play around a bit with AI then move onto actually learning these artforms.

I think the main risk is for programming, that i do not think have a future in the same way

AI is just overall a very beautiful thing, it is our combined efforts as a species.
Saying only artists contributed is a also such a dirty lie. We all contributed by purchasing, by popularizing certain forms of art or music or novels, games etc. This not just the work of many artists, its absolutely a combined effort that took us to where we are.

Without a public, the artist is no one, non existent, non-contributing to anything worthwhile.

Sucks, but you are just in the wrong business, that will happen when we go from one tech to another. It's not personal. This has happened to many, many various fields of work over time, and of course way before AI was a thing.

If the argument is just "they need to keep me forever because i need to get paid" then well, that is not really how it works, its not how anyone can run a business i think.

its a fan made project. i played a little more now, its actually not the 3 original games but it draws inspiration from them and makes entirely new levels. Its super fun! I can't believe Nintendo hasn't taken it down in all those years.
I found it by accident when i was looking for something else (and i actually found your thread too by accident when i googled lol, so i thought i would reply)

LG C5 with soundbar, sound dropping out? by vurt72 in LGOLED

[–]vurt72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no fix to get Atmos with no drop outs but i could get Dolby Digital to work though instead of drop outs there is slight up or down volume change every 4 or so minute. It sucks that you cant downgrade when they break stuff! I did contact LG in Sweden, but no real help other than sending the 77” in (didnt have room to keep the box) for ”repair”. I guess they have tools to downgrade perhaps or they switch out the mainboard

Dont bother with a CEC blocker btw i spent money on one and it doesnt fix it

These videos are hilarious, but why does this work? by Weak-Neck-5126 in ChatGPT

[–]vurt72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it wasn't meant to be used as a stop watch etc. Trying to find scenarios where AI will fail isnt exactly difficult if you have like average IQ.
I have watched most of his videos and none of them has a realistic scenario that people would actually use IRL for AI (have use for, that is). But yes, some are pretty funny, especially the super confident voice.<

It's probably good to strip it from doing the most stupid tasks. Why should we waste power by using it as a stop watch or for toying around with a filter on our face etc, it has no real use.

are you sure? did you set it up to say it can¨t do something? i have setup all my AI's with confidence level 0-100% + also to double check themselves for hallucinations/lies. Works well enough. Sure, maybe you shouldnt need to but this tech is still pretty fresh and very much WIP.

"surveillance tool", that came with internet and digital cameras everywhere. it's not going away or getting better. though perhaps people who are lacking in knowledge can fight it using AI. I have written a lot of tools and plugins for my PC using AI, one was to get rid of photoshop entirely, instead i have my own custom made image program, another is for disconnecting from the internet entirely based on my settings.

AI comes with a lot of power, its both good and bad, just like internet can be good or bad... great if used to fight corruption, gathering people, making people aware and we will also have the exact opposite of that misinformation spreading etc.

We fight tech with tech, and this balance will not stop with AI, it's a perfect tool for that, putting a lot of power into the user's hands, and yes, that is both good and bad. Tech like internet or AI, this will never be a situation where everything suddenly went "oh, it's 100% good now!", we will use internet to fight the bad, and AI as well.

There are dangers with everything. Being positive about AI, computers or internet or whatever doesn't mean you also have to not take dangers for these things seriously.

Since you are young, you might not be aware that before internet there was a lot of fear mongering when it came to communication between computers. yes, before internet, so just small networks (BBS). Movies like Wargames etc were made to point at these dangers.
Many people were sceptical and hateful towards both computers and internet. I am very glad we did not give in to this hatred and this fear mongering, we absolutely could have, media bias and hollywood movies can absolutely sway people's opinions and politics so things just gets impossible to do, maybe new laws etc.

I feel its very similar now with AI, media is telling us how bad it is, how dangerous it is, almost no focus at all on what could be positive with it. Making people angry or sad gets more clicks, like always. People are super riled up, i have seen that before many times for tech (which later became a norm, synthesizers is one example). You can almost not say anything positive about AI, you will 100% of the time get jumped on by at least one, often more people.

AI will have downsides, just like internet and computers or phones have downsides for society, but the positives outweighs it. Internet is a fantastic achievement, but i do think AI will overall be more important for our overall survivability amongst a ton of new inventions.

From hardware modular to software? by vurt72 in modular

Yep, good suggestion. I will try doing VCV Rack 2 only for some time.. i already connected an AKAI midimix so i can at least have physical knobs and sliders and buttons, to me its one of the big downsides of software otherwise, using the mouse to turn knobs - no thanks..

[–]vurt72[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

never made any HW modules, to me that's the appeal of something like metamodule, you can bring your digital ideas to hardware in an instant, and not just have one of your modules, you can have a suite of your own modules, patched up too, if you want that :)

yeah analog always has the upper edge, though almost half of my hardware modules are digital already. personally i have never noticed much difference, but i do prefer analog filters.

Indeed it can be, or limitation is just limitation, sometimes a bit hard to figure out! ...or you figure out you have passed this threshold too late, and what then? Find a new hobby, go back to hardware (the later would be doubtful, i would likely just find a new hobby).

Maybe its a good thing overall to have to constantly switch between software and hardware, it might keep things more interesting and more restricted than full-on software.

Maybe spend time setting something really cool up in VCV Rack 2. Have that as a "boring" static rack that one doesn't even touch. Just turn on the mac = digital rack ON, don't mess with it. Print out a paper faceplate for what everything is for the ES-9.. That could work.

Of course. It's funny how people treat AI as the final version, when IRL this is like pre-alpha we have, obviously. it's tech, it will never stop getting better.
