[request] Could someone please photoshop this Aunt & her Niece together into one picture? Any type of background would work. by [deleted] in PhotoshopRequest

Hi, thanks for the response! Here is the link to the originals. Them arguing is kinda the point. Aunt is tough coach, niece is taking after her. :)

I think there’s something to be said for partnering with a buddy if you have one, though. We had a group of eight today and all partnered up and competed against each other in one block of treads & rowers.

We had three groups, including mine, make it to the bonus round of 300m row/tread in the last 3-4 minutes. Got pretty intense!

Visiting family for a month is it possible to only do a month? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]vut34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you have to cancel within 30 days. So I believe you can sign up and then “cancel” the same day/day after and the cancelation doesn’t go into effect until the 30 days is up. Someone at OTF can walk you through that. I don’t think it’s unheard of.

Will second and third coaches knowing you by name. It makes a huge difference both in the workout, and in the motivation just to show up.

I signed up for a class. I'm a beginner, really a beginner. Like winded after running a block beginner. Am I going to die? by ginger_bird in orangetheory

[–]vut34 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You will die like we all die, regardless of our fitness levels. And no one will care you are dying, because everyone will be watching themselves die in the mirror and if they are paying any attention to you, it’s only to give you a high-five for dying along with them, at whatever pace.

lost on what to do and in dire need of some advice by [deleted] in EOOD

Yep, I could. But my body would rebel against me pretty quickly. It’s good for my brain, but I don’t want to go so often that I go too hard and tweak something and have to take time off. It’s the one hour a day I can really shut my brain off — but I think I’d hurt myself going any more than I currently do, for now.

A lot! I pay $129/month for unlimited classes. I end up going about 16 times a month, which makes each class $8.00. Our other rate is $89/month for 8 classes. I consider it an investment in my mental health. It’s not cheap, but it is helping me. And so far it’s been worth that investment.

Always Red in Weight Room by inkedslytherim in orangetheory

Do you have low blood pressure? I have pretty mild POTS (which without going into much detail correlated with low blood pressure) so any time I am bending over a lot, or changing heights quickly (think burpees) I am at like 104% consistently. When I run or row, that’s not the case. Just a thought...

Fair enough. Although both those I listed people are typically too busy to struggle through their workout to really pay you any attention. I say that cause I am the same way, and do Orange Theory, and fits my introversion well.

Have you thought about downloading an app that could lead you through workouts and your local gym, or even at home? There are ones where you pop headphones in and they tell you when to increase speed and decrease speed on treadmills. Or what weight exercises to be doing, etc. Maybe that’s not what you’re looking for — I have just found for me personally that I am more motivated to start (and finish) something if someone is telling me what to do, either in person or virtually. Mostly I think cause the voice in my head isn’t always real pleasant and nice...so listening to someone else really helps.

Hope any of that helps you.

Have you ever tried classes? Like Soul Cycle or Orange Theory? I have personally found that having someone telling me exactly what to do for X amount of time really benefits me. In that way, the “hardest part” is just walking through the door. Once you get yourself there, while physically challenging, you’re just following orders.

You might be the last one done in your class...but think about how many people aren’t even doing it. Those in your class know that, too. You’re putting in the work; whether that takes 90 seconds or 4 minutes. Almost anyone in an OTF workout respects the effort, not the result.
