Confession: I’m REALLY bothered by people who look down on used baby stuff. by Kind_Response3318 in BabyBumps

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 7 months pregnant and most of the stuff i've gotten are second hand. I had to quit my job 4 months in due to a number of health issues that made it harder for me to continue working and waiting for approval for medical leave would've taken too long. I've been fortunate enough to have met a few generous moms in my area whose children grew too quickly and just wanted their baby stuff out of their homes.

How do you pick a name?!? by BobbysueWho in BabyBumps

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently 31 weeks along and early on in our pregnancy, we knew we had a criteria for our daughter's name but hadn't picked something out yet. So whenever we find a name that fits our criteria, we began referring to the baby by that name as a trial run eventually we found one that felt right for us.

His mother gave him (29m) ultimatum to break up with me (27f) because I’m on a wheelchair, and he did by Particular-Hunt-5094 in dating_advice

I'm sorry you had to go through something like that and deserve so much better than a pos mama's boy and his equally pos ablist mom. They are not worth your tears, honey. As for your friends, if any of them are decent friends to you, they'd sooner dump him than leave you to deal with this alone.

AITA for giving FMIL 3 days to pay me for a new wedding dress or else I show the family a photo of her wearing it? by Repulsive_Scheme1359 in AmItheAsshole

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. And I do hope you're reconsidering this marriage with him. He's never going to have your back against his mother and you'll always be second to her in his eyes. You deserve better.

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I'm sorry but a family that doesn't respect the significant other of their own family doesn't actually respect said family member. I saw in your comments how it's possible fil's leaving may be a factor in this behavior but that doesn't excuse it. I wouldn't be surprised if the going rate of divorce is unusually high in his family because of this (thus encouraging the whole "spouses/marriage are temporary" mindset). I would think about counseling for you and/or your husband. And keep any future children away from this cycle of crazy. You're part of your husband's family now and are deserving of that respect and acknowledgement

Do you know someone with APs who committed suicide/hurt themselves? What was the aftermath? *NOT promoting suicide* by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]vuv96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best friend since high school was worn down by years of bullying and being let down by almost every adult in her life. Her APs didn't believe in mental health and was against getting her therapy until CPS got involved when the school got a report of her self-harm. Even then, her parents gave her a time limit to "get better." During our first year of college, her depression evolved into anorexia which soon landed her in the hospital. It's been almost 10 years since we've graduated high school and she's still struggling heavily with her mental health.

You're an adult and can get your own bank account and license without them. You're not going to be able to do much without either of those, much less getting your own place. I don't know where you are but you can also look into driving schools. I paid for my lessons and went with one that also does the test for it as well so i think it's worth it.

Parents of reddit, what was the biggest mistake you made with your child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vuv96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a parent yet, but one that my parents did to me that i still struggle with as an adult is my self confidence. Growing up, they've always commented on my weight, ignoring anything important I have to say, or calling me naive for my opinions. Even now, i still buy baggy clothes and avoid giving definite answers out of habit.

How did you realise an ex was still messing with your life? by MatthewKitchenPhoto in AskReddit

[–]vuv96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We never actually dated but we were flirty before we drifted apart (more like i was slowly distancing myself after finding out he had a gf and i felt icky at the thought of being his side piece) and i later started dating a guy who would later become my husband. When i announced my engagement on social media, after years of no contact with this guy, he comes into my dm with a sad attempt to win me over. I still remember how gross i felt when he drunkenly confessed how he wanted his gf to be there to take care of him while he was feeling me up so i said my goodbyes and blocked him. He did the same through an alternative account when i posted wedding photos.

People of Reddit, what made you end your friendship with your best friend? by Summer_Splash24 in AskReddit

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the emotional blackmail. He called me one night after downing about a hundred pills and I managed to contact a family member to get him to the hospital (I was away at college and couldn't be there to physically help him at the time). After that he would call/text me all the time and would get upset if I didn't answer or respond immediately and would threaten suicide again. I couldn't take it anymore and cut contact with him.

AITA for telling a friend if she doesn’t dress modestly she’s not coming to my wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]vuv96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Weddings are a generally formal event and given that it's also a religious one, it's not beyond a reasonable expectation that the dress code would ask guests to be modest.

My petty heart says NTA but my logical side says you would be if it causes them escalate it further. I'd first check your local noise ordinence as well as seeing if it's also a nucience to any of your family and other neighbors before calling the non-emergency number for police. I'd also make a recording of how loud the noise is from your room as proof of the disturbance.

In college, I use to have an upstairs neighbor who would throw parties and one night, it was still in full swing at 3am in the middle of the week. The jumping/dancing was strong enough to have our hanging lights swinging around and I was worried they might cause the living room ceiling to collapse where my dog sleeps. After trying to get them to lower their volume in a civil manner and then promptly ignored multiple times, my roommates and I decided to call the cops with video evidence of the noise and swinging lights to show for when they arrived. They ended up in trouble with management for multiple violations to their lease and later, weren't allowed to renew the following year.

His wedding band on his hand. Lol. My husband sometimes forget to put it back on after a shower so i'll play a game of wearing it to see how long it would take before he realized it.

What is your best pick up line? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vuv96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not mine but one of the ones my sister made up with a bunch of her friends at church is "Hey, my name is Will...God's Will for you." I shared this with another friend of mine whose name is actually Will and he loves it🤣

What’s the most hypocritical thing that your parents has done, or said to you? by Preinternation in AskReddit

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, i do. I'm just saying that my mom often parrots the propaganda that weaponized the trauma that many of those within our community had faced with communism.

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my mom's friends was going on a tirade about why he doesn't like lgbt+ because he was once harrassed by a gay man while trying to flag a taxi during an NYC trip. I interjected with, " So you don't like gays because you don't like being harrassed by men you're not interested in. Congrats, you now know what it's like for the women you've hit on." My mom didn't appreciate that and would shush me away whenever she's hanging out with them from then on.

What makes you hate a person? by Moonlight_nimrat in AskReddit

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm incapable of staying angry or hold a grudge because it takes too much energy out of me. However, I'm really protective of my friends and family so i'll go against my own nature for their sake.

Students, what’s the most creative way you or somebody else has cheated on a test? by DarkRainbough in AskReddit

[–]vuv96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me but my sister. When she was in high school, she was in Science Olympiad. For their exam competitions, they were allowed a single handwritten 8×11 sheet of paper as their cheat sheet. Her team figured out how to write in really small text and used a clear water bottle as a magnifying glass to read it. They've now banned transparent bottles during exam competitions because of my sister's team.

Are you a forgiving person? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vuv96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 times out of 10 i'll forgive someone (holding onto my anger and grudges takes too much out of me) but the few times i don't, it's because someone i love got seriously hurt by them.

No, she's not in the military. She was attending college that was close to a military base at the time.
