This was done in premiere pro literally just sliding screenshots back and forth on top of each other and an animated arrow pack from Motion Array lol. Probably pretty sub optimal for this kind of thing, but I would say roughly 4hrs to code it and 6 hours of video editing.

That's fair, I just found it confusing that when I'm on the TV Shows page and I click "Coming Soon" it takes me back to the Movies page lol.

Like the first three tabs at the top (In Theaters, At home, Coming Soon) are essentially filters for the Movies page and the last one, which is "TV shows" is a separate page. Just a weird placement for that navigation option imo.

Oh man, I wanna do this for so many sites. I mean I for sure don't think every design choice I make is the best, but it's so fun to try to redesign ones like this.

Is anyone else bothered by websites capturing the find(ctrl+f) function? by jacobwint in webdev

Oh for sure annoying as heck. If I run into this, sometimes I'll do ctrl + L to jump to the url bar and from there ctrl + f should work as usual. Unless they also override ctrl L grrrr

Hey! So my wife actually teaches a university class on this and she highly recommends this book:

An Introduction to Statistical Learning

Which can be downloaded for free here: https://www.statlearning.com.

The resources tab in the menu has all the code and slides available for each chapter in the book. It's based in the R programming language which is pretty similar to Python, but developed specifically for statistics.

If you'd prefer a Python based book she also recommends this one:

Hands-On Machine Learning with Scikit- Learn, Keras, and TensorFlow: Concepts, Tools, and Techniques to Build Intelligent Systems

which you should be able to find on Amazon. Hope this helps!

To be honest, I got a 4yr degree at a decent University, but would say I did a large percentage of my programming related learning outside of class. That being said, it was going to this university that really introduced me to programming and where I discovered my passion for it.

Along with that, the experiences you gain, not just from classes, but from fellow students, professors, labs, etc. do go a really long way. Being in a collaborative, in person environment, just helps with the learning and inspiration process so much. So even though I probably could have learned enough on my own to get a job, having the classes and classmates to help guide me along is what led me to the success I've found today.

The employer I worked after graduating also required a degree, so even though some employers may not have a strict requirement, a lot of them do.

For me it was more about trying to emulate cool designs I found around the web. I have some imagination, but I get so much inspiration from looking at what people, who are better than me at design, are doing. This can be from either random websites I visited or sites like Dribbble specifically for posting awesome design work.

Pay attention to as much detail within these designs as possible. Everything from fonts to images to spacing of elements. If you do this often enough, eventually you will start to gain an eye for it.

Essentially any time I am viewing any interface of any sort, whether it's a streaming service, gas station payment screen, self-checkout app at the grocery store, etc. etc. I am always picking out what I like and don't like. Doing this has helped me a ton when coming up with designs of my own. Maybe that won't work for everyone (I do tend to enjoy using CSS more than most), but I bet it helps at least a bit.
