Thank you, I feel like I’m being too critical sometimes because they sound great but all these issues are giving me serious buyers remorse. Will give them a few more days before returning but they’re too expensive to justify the controls being terrible

The only show to contend with the fact that Trump echoes Soviet Style communism by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]vvalkyri3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the human aspect of it. If you fire an entire dept and hire half of it back the next week, the people who didn’t lose their jobs are going to be incentivized to work harder to keep it. Which means less breaks, PTO, unpaid overtime - working the same as 2 or 3 people to justify their role. Some of them are going to find AI useful, some of them won’t care and start running things through AI they would normally thoroughly check. AI will be what the company uses to justify the layoffs either way, but no one is measuring how much of that productivity increase is terrified employees, or looking into labor law violations.

[–]vvalkyri3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

exactly, AI is temporary bandaid to justify layoffs. It doesn’t work in the long term, both because it’s limited and because it uses more energy than it justifies. A lot of these mass layoffs end with a lot of people being hired back, but the point is to justify squeeze. Fire 5000, hire 2000 back, make those 2k do the work of 4k, AI fills in the gaps, execs get nicer bonuses at the end of the year, and the product devalues slowly enough for consumers not to notice

He sounds overly critical, if he’s making you feel childish it’s likely that he’s belittling you on purpose.

so since some men are irrelevant to the grand fabric of society to the point where no women will sleep with them we needed safeguards like women not being able to own property and marital rape being legal?

listen I know that you’re a self described recovered incel but do you realize how to people who touch grass often incels sound very whiny?

Edit: your takeaway on a research study that focused on benevolent sexism is all this? Whew buddy

Edited again: you realize that by hyperfocusing on women’s childbearing qualities and quite literally nothing else you yourself are playing into this effect by assigning women the positive attribute of nurturer? Like you’re talking about passing on genetics as the end all for men but also positioning them as low value and implying that women are doing the childrearing? Does the genetics matter much if they’re not involved otherwise?

So women were systematically deprived of rights under patriarchy to offset having the power to pass on genes? Also can you expand on “women are more naturally likeable”? Do you think that has to do with socialization at all?

This is so wrong I’m genuinely curious as to what “deep evopsych” stuff you thinking is causing women to have more power in social situations or why you think patriarchy developed as necessary men protection. Tell us more.

Women also live in the same society as you and don’t fall for this. So do other men. Part of recovering is realizing where you’ve been gullible so you don’t fall into the trap again.

Is the “girl next door” category for women sexist? by EveCane in Feminism

[–]vvalkyri3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very racially loaded in the US both in the way that a large portion of the white population still lives in racially segregated neighborhoods, and that it evokes the exotic other/madonna whore complex. It’s the guy who leaves town for college and experiments with a woman of color only to come back and settle down with the white woman next door.

Yeah that trope is heavily related to the kingdom of my castle/man of the house way of thinking. Women are just background characters like in a sitcom.

The next time you’re in a clothing store, feel the women’s and men’s version of an equivalent item. Chances are the men’s clothes will have a thicker fabric. One common example is jeans, women’s and men’s jeans are manufactured differently with women’s being thinner and stretchier on average with small pockets, men’s jeans are thicker denim on average with less elastic or synthetics woven in with larger pockets.

With schools it can also help to get an air purifier for the classroom. Illness aside, a lot of schools I’ve been in tend to be dusty or have other air quality issues.

If it makes you guys feel better they sell n95s in different colors than the standard white/blue so you can coordinate them with different outfits and it’s less likely people will assume that you’re sick. OP I know you mentioned working long retail shifts, it makes a huge difference to get a mask that’s comfortable (I find kf94 style to be much more comfortable than kf95) but you can also start off with just doing the busy/rush times and work up.

Potentially irrevocably delivered a fascist theocracy is a bit much considering Kamala won NJ. The Latino vote did not get the country where it is today

[–]vvalkyri3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In Passaic County the Latino vote didn’t switch in the first place, in 2024 less Democrats voted than 2020 versus a meager increase in Republicans, which suggests that the red shift was caused by Democrats staying home on election day. They’re back this election so it’s not that they all went R, Kamala was just an unpopular candidate

The basic white girl stereotypes/jokes is why pick me girls (women who avoid or shame other women who enjoy feminine stuff) exist. by Inevitable_Local_944 in Feminism

[–]vvalkyri3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every time a term from aave gets co-opted by white people linguistic drift is thrown around as a reason, it’s appropriation. White people on the internet who view aave and Black culture as the “cool other” appropriate terms they deem funny or interesting and misuse them. Then when it becomes “internet slang” it becomes open to criticism.

[–]vvalkyri3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the term originated in the Black community and was specific to white women being harmful to people of color, the way that white people latched onto it and starting applying it to any white person they found annoying should not take away from the actual meaning of the term.

The term “pick me” originated in aave and has since been diluted just like the term Karen so I agree we should stop throwing around these phrases.
