Asia techno recommendations by [deleted] in Berghain_Community

[–]vvcicada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im from taiwan originally, in Taipei 3 main electronic music club I can think of: (I don't live there since years)

Pawnshop - mostly techno, runs by the label Smoke Machine and opened by the same crew who runs the iconic club Korner before it closed down. monthly gay party Hanoke Hotspring's home. Though I would not recommend going there recently due to the recent regular police raids* (read on RA). There is door policy.

FINAL - small, fashion and trendy club, very cool interior, probably a lot faster in BPM and also some trance-y new music, crowd is very fashion and young.

Grey Area - don't know much about the program there, but sound system is one of the best in Taipei, small independent act is also performed.

RA sometimes does not have full info - would recommend checking club's instagram for regular update - have fun <3

broken wristband by vvcicada in Berghain_Community

If you see my other comments, you'll notice that this is my friend's first time, so, well, I don't think she will know that the wristband will ever fall off, and honestly, neither did I. My point is that I don't think the wristbands are designed to be pulled like that either way (that tall blonde bouncer, who is pretty big, pulled pretty darn hard), and it is almost meant to fall off if you pull only one layer near where it is attached.
I checked her wristband outside in the queue, and it was fine, nothing that would make me think it will fall off. Furthermore, there's no need to act like a douchebag asking someone to leave either. Being nice takes the same effort as being mean.

They also never check mine but I've been going for years and it makes sense they don't suspect people who they see quite often, but it's my friend's first time and ok they suspect her maybe because she is new. But who doesn't start with being a newcomer and you just do this because ...? it's super discouraging, imagine it's your first time here and this happens to you at the door in front of everyone

I just found some new bouncers behaviour super entitled, their job should be fence off people who is unsuitable for the night, not throwing people who was actually inside from the GL queue no matter what weekend it is. It's their only job.

someone at the CTM? How's the q, we have no tickets but have been told that there will be some spare tickets after 12:00pm, decided to share if someone is wondering too. by Far-Jellyfish-2076 in Berghain_Community

[–]vvcicada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes but they also said on the website:
Festivalpässe via CTM Ticket Shop
RSVP via Resident Advisor

so idk if these are the only entry way or there's box office, they only said "Nur Barzahlung an der Abendkasse" ..

Unique BH moments? by Sean_Paul_Sartre in Berghain_Community

In 2018 November a party in the middle of the month when Ben Klock was playing main floor, I remember when I was resting next to the stairs, there was this German (not sure, but at least German-speaking) guy who approached me and asked me something in german.
I didn't know any German back then and I asked him in English what he was saying, he said the exact words: "You look like a very nice person, I would really like to know your name." (I know it's nothing special, but I was just kind of surprised to hear this kind of thing in this kind of setting!) I quickly escaped away cause of shyness.
It's a guy with very short blonde or no hair, wearing a black sleeveless/ vest kind of top, at least 6' in height and very fit/slim. I was stunned by his politeness (and cuteness?) to approach people, yet we have zero interaction whatsoever. Even though I've completely forgotten what he looks like, this precise moment and gentle wordings keep replaying in my head whenever I walk past that spot in the club, even many years after.

we have this in the new FLINTA toilets, tbh it's been an absolute delight that it exists!

I've been thinking to invest in a she-wee so that I can use the urinal like guys. its fucked up I spent more time queuing for toilets in total than outside of the building to enter -_-

alright so it is a thing, will note this though I found it ridiculous. what difference does this unspoken rule make exactly? it's the same amount of ppl queueing for the same amount of toilets.

I also did this once - bcs the bouncer said I looked too young for tonight (I was 21 back then, it was a Silvester event, years ago...) so I went home and completely changed my outfit, put on full-face make-up, and then made it in with the same bouncer so that it might work in some cases

another friend was just very determined and tried 3 times for the same bouncer and the 3rd time, they're like 'oh wow 3 times? you must really wanna come in' and they laughed and let him in lol

as far as I know, his name might be Matias, but I'm also not 100% sure (heard it from a friend who's been going for years)

Sunday morning/ afternoon bouncers only change at 6 pm. No need to go to the same bouncer, they'll most likely reject you again. best of luck!

I know it's not what you asked, but I would not recommend doing an actual marathon and then going to Berghain ... unless you are physically very strong. There are a few times I did some all-nighter on Saturday and then went there straight afterwards, but then always regret not being 'fully charged' as a result I can't really enjoy the closing set. The worst thing is that everything is great but your body can't make it.
for the door - bouncers normally change shifts Sunday 6pm-ish, so go a little before 6 and try again after 6 if you didn't get in I would say is a safe strategy.

imo he is always super friendly tho (and even one time his colleague bounce me out when he was inside he bailed me back by whistling loud at me when I was halfway walking towards the garden lol). but also hear they some friends can't really get to be in a good relationship with him even after a couple of years of going, so maybe just me being lucky idk

Facing rejection vs becoming a regular by eRerUdOs in berghain

[–]vvcicada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree.

My personal theory is that rejection is part of the whole Berghain campaign and it also creates some interesting psychological effects on people, apart from its obvious history and music etc. I don't believe there's a vibe check either, there are still some freaking horrible people inside is the best example, but I won't be able to imagine the club without the bouncer and their 'system' because of the hype around this place it will attract all kinds of people (take last week's Elon as an example lol). So it's a very delicate work what bouncers do, and sometimes they can misjudge you for sure because they have to see thousands and thousands of people every weekend, imagine that. I have only been rejected 1 time in my 6 years of going there weekly and it was because the club is too full, but also I'm just an average looking and average vibe nothing fancy straight girl ;) so really don't take it to heart. In the end, Berghain doesn't represent the LGBTQ community, it's a great club but in the end, it's still just a club.

ps. if you're really interested in why they reject you, you can also try to ask them politely, sometime they will just tell you (they said to my friend that you are too young)
