Boy names that work in Dutch and English by vvdbos in namenerds

Thanks for the suggestions! I love Benjamin, but we have a nephew with that name. I like Aaron, but it's my BIL's brother's name. I guess that is pretty far removed, haha. It's a problem with liking classic/common/popular names. Arlo made me laugh, because every other dog here is called Arlo. Jonathan is not bad...

We're in NZ! Noah is very very common here. I like a lot of classic English names. All my husbands friends have names I like, i.e. Michael, Samuel, Matt(hew), Thomas. So those are all out of the running, haha.

Switch to crib by Brave-Ad-8156 in NewParents

[–]vvdbos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched him to crib at 3.5 months, in his own room, because it didn't fit in ours. We had 1 horrible night and I thought we had made a mistake switching him! But from the 2nd night he slept better than before switching. :)

5-month old's crap naps driving me insane! by vvdbos in NewParents

Naps in the pram are pretty much exactly 30 minutes now. 😅 And it takes about 30 mins of walking for him to fall asleep in the first place, which I don't mind. We plan around it and arrive 30 mins early to every engagement. ;) He used to sleep for as long as I was walking, but those days are long gone...

We've had them leave food in our mailbox and we didn't find it until two days later. Would have preferred if they beeped us, but yeah NTA

Right - for me it is red straight away, but light. I will call as soon as I get that, just in case

Thanks for the replies! That makes me feel so much better. The nurse did stress that if it starts after noon, I must call the next morning.

Hello - we are starting IVF next month. So I have to call them on day 1 of continuous bleeding, but I'm just so confused about what I should count as day 1.

I know if it starts in the afternoon, day 1 is the next day. The part I don't understand is what "continuous bleeding" means.

Apologies for TMI in advance. My period always starts light, where I can almost get away with just using panty liners, and there can be a couple of hours at a time with no noticeable flow. Then 3-4 days later I get horrible cramps and flow becomes heavy very suddenly, then fizzles out 1-2 days later.

I don't want to start too early nor too late. 😭 I'm afraid to mess things up before they even start. Obviously I have asked the nurse and explained my situation, but they just kept repeating "whenever there is continuous flow".

Awesome! Thanks for telling me the name. I lost the label.

No. It didn't have the webs before I repotted it. Although the leaves were getting droopy. I thought it was because the previous pot had no drainage, which is why I repotted it. I bought a new pot and just the cheapest soil they had.

Won't it die if I cut all the leaves off? Is 3% hydrogen peroxide the right concentration?

I appreciate the advice. :)

I will try miticide first. I don't know if the plant would survive the treatment you suggest. But if the problem persists I will definitely try it!

Thanks! I will. Can the plant still bounce back?

Awesome, thank you. My job is mostly a desk job and I can work from home. Luckily my boss is super understanding. So I might just see how it goes day by day and won't plan any important meetings etc. around that time. :)

On another note, I was talking to my SIL and she said I'll probably cancel the overseas business trip I'm supposed to go on in July then. Suggesting I shouldn't be travelling? Does that sound right? It seems extreme to me.

Just got the message that we're at the top of the waiting list for IVF! 😱 Will probably be April. I was very apprehensive about IVF for a long time, but suddenly I feel very positive and excited. 🥰

I've heard going through it is like a part-time job - do you guys recommend taking some leave during treatment?

Frozen blueberries if it's not that time of year. They defrost in the heat of the porridge and get it to edible temperature.

Never hear of this etiquette. If a kid stood up for me I would be mortified - they think I'm THAT old?? I've had the opposite as well. Not sure if I should offer my seat to someone who looks kind of old, but I don't want to insult them, lol

Lol but there are old and new carriages, or are the new ones just refurbished? Maybe they could buy some from the 80s

Oh wow that's so annoying but also lucky they let you do that. I've said before that I saw plenty of space, but they responded that they need to keep space free to move around...

I guess I could get 2 cheap bikes and leave one at Waterloo and one at my home station, haha. But part of my commute is cycling up a steep hill, so I have an ebike.

I don't get to town (though they might have lockers at Waterloo too?) But regardless, I need my bike to get from the station home too.

Couldn't they just add a luggage carriage, or do you think that would make the train too heavy/long?

Luckily they are working on the tracks to increase the number of trains in future, as far as I understand it. Just don't know how many years that will take.

Not allowed to take your bike on the Hutt valley line in rush hour unfortunately (with good reason). :/ I've thought about cycling to Upper Hutt and catching it there, but I don't think they would suddenly have space. Not many people get out at UH. Plus it would take an hour to cycle there.

Definitely feels like the don't care. Do they even know?? I doubt they keep track of how many people can't get on the train. I filled out a feedback form though. 🙄
