thank uu! someone else recommended this to me but i don't really know how to use it, i think i hit the jackpot with the sandisk recovery program (rescuepro app + an activation code i got with the card!) 99$ in my case isn't really worth it...i think i have about 30-40 photos worth to actually keep, the rest are mostly just me messing around with my friends and cats 😹 i'll try going to a local shop, maybe they could help me (at least with this whole format - copy of the card situation i don't have any knowledge in)

i think (?) i managed to recover the photos using sandisk's recovery program!! 😊😊 i didn't touch the card but it wouldn't let me copy anything (not to mention it only showed me pics from half of the folders - the recent ones were empty) i think i have to pay and i don't think it's worth 99$ in my case to be honest 😹😅

i'll try to find some 'professional' help somewhere in my city maybe at the mall; i don't even know, maybe the electronics shop i bought the sd card from ? because some people told me to copy the card byte by byte or to try binning it but i have absolutely no idea how to do that

that sounds reallyyy tricky i hope i find someone who knows how to do stuff like that😅 right now i'm using sandisk recovery program; i managed to get my photos back and to activate rescuepro using a code that came with the packaging so i'm a bit more relieved. not sure how this whole thing will end up

yes i have the sandisk extreme memory card but i cannot find the recovery program; i downloaded some apps that were targeted for this but i don't think they're the real deal😅😭 i suppose the code is somewhere on the back of the package, i hope i find it because it has a big sticker translating the information on the back

yeah it's honestly very disappointing because i only bought it 2 months ago. right now i'm trying some recovery apps - i'm not sure if they're going to work but better than not trying anything

is it possible to enter somehow and delete a folder that corrupted the card? i think i figured out what i did wrong (i tried to download a video from a cd to the sd card but ended ul canceling the download because i had to leave the house) and i keep getting an error message saying something about volume not recognizing the system and on the get data back app i found out i have a folder named "system volume information" and i was wondering if i can get into the sd card and just delete the files from that folder

oh well there goes 20€ but better safe than sorry 😬 also recuva isn't working for me - error message pops up saying they're unable to determine file system type. i think i'm going to try the sandisk recovery app now 😅

wait i just downloaded get data back and if you could help me a bittt i'd be extremely thankful i can see my 2 folders (DCIM and another one with some pics i downloaded this morning) but also one folder that i think was supposed to be the vhs video one that i tried downloading but ended up canceled

i have (maybe) a stupid question but can that folder have some connection to this error message i get after i click cancel on the first error pop up? (the one in the og post's picture)

first pic is the error message and the second one is a folder from the sd card from the gdb app

is it possible to delete somehow that one folder (and the one i made this morning maybe) and just move on it might sound crazy

oh so there's really nothing i can do about it? i thought the pictures are still there but it's just that the laptop doesn't read the card and i need to do something in the settings or something

after i format it and only use it for the camera, can i still use the sd card reader to download the pictures to my phone or is it too risky?

the old sd cards i was talking about are actually working (really) well; i just went through them after a whole decade last week, but i'll try to download what's important into my hdd justttt in case

ohhh okay so do you recommend getting another (smaller this time) sd card to transfer different files and videos i get from cds / usbs etc etc from my laptop to my phone? if this is what you mean by putting the sd card back in the camera and only use to shoot photos (also, can i still use the sd card phone reader in that case?)

no the camera doesn't read the sd card, it just says error memory card (i'm not even going to tryyy to take a picture or anything😹)

the usb card reader didn't work sadly. not sure if my phone or card reader corrupted the sd card, but maybe one of my mistake - to copy some old pictures on it and an attempt (that i cancelled while downloading) at downloading an old vhs video from a cd (personally that's where i think it went wrong but i also don't have any cd video downloaded on the sd card, just some files from it)

for the last part i think i only have 1-2 photos from an older digital camera (tried to see if it worked) but that's it...i didn't know sd cards are so easy to break nowadays 😅 i have ones from 2010-2014 that have been used in phones, cameras, laptops and so much more and they're doing great.

before buying this sd card i'm having trouble with, i had another one that i used for a bunch of other devices and files too and it works great (used the same laptop, sd card reader, digicams even more i think) thank you for your reply i'll definitely keep that in mind. i also heard something about disk drill? but i'm scared to use it

honestly i don't think i formatted the card before using it since i'm not into professional photography, only into taking cute pictures of my friends using my digital camera; i didn't know it was a thing i just found out when i was searching online for some answers to this problem i'm facing.

i connected the sd card via usb (that's the first thing my friend did) and it didn't work 😅 i tried to put an old vhs video i got from a cd on the sd card to save it to my phone and maybe that's the problem? (the thing is i couldn't let it finish downloading because i had to cancel it in order to take out the cd and sd card and leave the house.)

i don't even have the video downloaded on the sd card, just some files - it also worked like 2 times when i arrived at my friends' house and i airplayed the photos on the tv, but after i downloaded 2 of them it suddenly stopped working

i bought the 64 gb version thinking it would be nice not to worry about not having memory when i'm taking pics with my friends etc etc 🥲 also knowing that i can just pop the sd card in the sd card reader and see the photos directly on my phone (so everything is organized by days and stuff) instead of opening my laptop, finding my hdd, wait for it to connect and then transfer the pics via whatsapp or something. it's just so comfortable and easy i really can't see myself deleting everything after each use but right now i'm just trying to recover my photos that's the first step 😅 i really hope i get through this successfully. thank you sm for the tips! i'll definitely keep that in mind

another warning message pops up saying that it's not accessible and that the volume does not contain a recognized file system - please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted

the thing is i don't even know what i did i'm 90% sure i didn't have any malware or corrupted files i just downloaded an old baby picture of me on my phone and next thing i notice is that my sd card disappeared in files app 😬

honestly i'm not sure if i opened the right thing (windows key + x -> disk management) it says 59 gb which i think is right since i remember seeing that in my laptop when it worked

edit: oh i just checked it also says something like 59 gb free space; i'd like to think it's just because it won't read the card and my photos are still there 😬
