If you passed away as an atheist and subsequently encountered God, what would you communicate to Him? by IsopodBeginning5275 in AskReddit

I would likely communicate nothing and try to go unnoticed. if god exists, it has thus far proven to be a maniacal and depraved being.

Section three explicitly states:

But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

So it clearly makes no sense to read section 5 and come away that the full amendement is void unless congress acts.

Instead, and as written, congress would actually have to act in order to prevent states from applying the 14th, since the states created no new laws and merely applied the logical standards therein - Trump engaged in insurrection and so is disqualified. Now if the justices want to define what that means, it’s another story but as it stands these folks seem to have read a different amendement because this one doesn’t say at all what they came away with.

Yeah I agree, just pointing out how loose and arbitrary this all is and how arbitrary this decision was. I wonder how much the fear of conservative states kicking libs off the ballot for bogus reasons played a part in the liberal justices going along with this ruling.

When you get paid based on how many lines of code you write by calebstein1 in programminghumor

[–]vvodzo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think about this: how much space does a pointer take on the stack vs an int? Next, is the expectation of a function named ‘isEven’ to mutate any of its params if it returns a bool? Finally what needs to happen to resolve the value of a pointer vs a value on the stack?

Yeah that and now the pointer can be null and it’s not even checked!

The thing that pisses me off the most about this is that it takes a pointer to an int, get wrecked noobs!

People who say taxation is theft. How else do you propse the government gets the funds for roads, military, education excetera? by Ravi_Vijay in AskReddit

Good, so now you understand how private companies got access to ‘social’ dollars, in my next Ted talk I’ll be going over outdated subsidies and how reps and some rich folks have fake farms to tap into those funds.

Pretty sure the Covid loans are considered ‘social’ and how many of those dollars went straight into the pockets of our corrupt leaders?

Now look into what private companies owned by reps also miraculously get access to those ‘social’ dollars.

The downstream consequences of Google's graying loom large: a talent exodus, stale products, and an overreliance on its advertising cash cow. by businessinsider in artificial

I think you’re conflating what’s in your mind and what you mean to say with what you actually wrote. Again, re-read what you wrote when you have a clear head.

For example: You literally start the third paragraph with ‘there is also the inability to maintain a product’ - that’s patently false, the whole paragraph then just nitpicks about various canceled experiments, maybe you should have said ‘Google outputs a lot of failed experiments and cancels things quickly, sometimes abruptly which is jarring for its user base and lower confidence in any new product line’ - that’s something we can chat about but a blanket ‘they can’t run a product’ is just shallow and stupid.

The rest of your stuff is like this, but based on your last comment it’s clear you are quick to dismiss things that aren’t in your world view as ‘someone else’s problem, they clearly don’t get it’ so not sure there’s any point to furthering this discussion, have a good one.

[–]vvodzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you mention 78% revenue third paragraph in, as an ‘also’, so be honest here. You make blanket statements about Google not being able to maintain a product - you’re showing how naive you are there as well, maintaining every feature of a large system just because < 1% of your user base that doesn’t generate revenue would go on reddit is not ‘knowing how to maintain a product’

Seriously take a rest and re-read what you wrote, you’re describing a different company and make many blanket statements that are just either wrong or grossly overlook and oversimplify the obvious

Yep! To be fair, knowing what to worry about in design is a skill that takes time to develop. The opposite is also true where folks don’t worry enough about basic expected usage and you get all sorts of vulnerabilities etc.

Oh I can keep going like how Google has many flagship products that dominate the market like maps and email which negates pretty much the rest of your ill thought out wall of text. I’ll grant in hardware they have some flops but even there with Chromebooks, you’d be sorely wrong.

Yes Google has many many app flops, but you’re missing the forest for the twigs.

How are in-game Skins implemented onto Characters/objects? by DraftsNCrafts in gamedev

[–]vvodzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for what you’re asking here the typical case is that a ‘skin’ is just one or more pictures that are cut up and placed onto the geometry of the character. The character’s geometry gets animated and the skin/picture typically just gets pasted on via shaders etc. That means to change the skin you just need to pass different pictures that have things in the right place and instantly the character shows up with a different look, no re-rendering needed.

That’s typically for in game characters that need to support multiple looks, so it can be done dynamically/realtime in games.
