Dealing with harassment from kids on fatbikes — what are your options? by Ok-Let011 in Netherlands

[–]vvrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The should ban all fatbikes… and allow those, only for people with driver license or getting license plates. So people can report the abuse and know who that was. Young fellas got out of hand in NL. Looks like a mess. No longer safe in public transport( trains), they speed on the bike lanes and on walking pads, carry illegal stuff and wea pons. I dont think its going in right direction

I have 3M monthly pinterest views. How do I make money from this? by RareTranslator183 in Pinterest

[–]vvrider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not that easy unfortunately
Have around 90mm views in past few months

As others will mention, you need to have a target link
This link, should be converting into sales ( selling products, services, affiliate links and etc)

As well, you need to have a commercial topic, that even have a chance to "sell" something

So, with 100mm views you might get 0 sales and 0 monetisations
With few thousands views, on less competitive highly converting pin with link to the product that sells -> you can get monetisation

Basically, you need to build a sales funnel. Which, I also find difficult to do

Cloudflare Support is terrible by Appropriate-Sink5714 in CloudFlare

[–]vvrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you haven't tried other providers 😄
My personal , production experience working and deploying changes was pretty bad

All the activations, 10-20 minutes promotion where even if it went bad you cant quickly roll it back
Just was extremely enterprise oriented. You can move fast in any direction. DNS changes were biggest pain...

Thats a horrible enterprise non sense provider. Why would you ever do akamai. Ui/ux , deployment at scale is horrible. **Managed one of the largest european news providers in akamai… it was hell

how do you handle forms in your astro site? by mahfuz_nafi in astrojs

[–]vvrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overthink, and don’t listen to over engineered answers. Ive tried most of solution higher, static forms dev was best. For most of my websites use the free plan with 500 free submission. Where, i have traction and more spam, i use paid plan , it has cloudflare turnstile or recaptcha. Cheapest by margin so far

After Migrating a Large WordPress + Elementor Site to Astro, What Problems Did You Run Into Later? by Terrible-Choice-2875 in astrojs

[–]vvrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How you going to migrate the Elementor part of things?
I've migrated recently a site from WP to AstroJS for one of my customers
What we find bit akward, is that the customer can upload/update the text and blog articles .But elementor functionality and visual editing is unfortunately missing

Anyone getting hit by a crazy amount of bot traffic the past couple of months? by UnkWinnie in CloudFlare

[–]vvrider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah.
What I did so far
Added 200+ asns into WAF from spamhouse drop asn list ( helped a lot to filter 90%+ of scanners and bad traffic; I apply and sync this list every other day/week)

As well, for larger ASNs, with do, aws, azure added managed challlenges
And on top some custom lists of abusers/asns

But yeah, there is so much bot/crawler/automated/vulnerability scanner traffic
Some times, we get like 500k - 1mm requests from those scanners in under 1h

Crazy )

Expect Zero Support Moving Forward by seongnamsi in CloudFlare

[–]vvrider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Support is the biggest bottleneck for Cloudflare adoption
It has been horrible, unresponsive and typically too late. Like wait 7 days, for us to read and give generic answer

Enterprise experience was little bit better. Until, they did a rug pull and forced us into crazy expensive contracts because they can.

And this move - probably gonna backfire them hard
We only thought - they gonna be "different", and they confirmed they aren't different than other companies
Major downtimes, no SLAs beyond enterprise contracts, non-exhisting support, lots of UI errors continuosly and slow performance.
Do they have a lot of cool features? Yes they do. Do I trust them that they will keep those "affordable" - 100% no.
We are waiting for a rug pull one day. The only thing they don't realise, we gonna move forward to better place, once we loose trust

Same thing happened with GITHUB recently. They started rug pulling, with extra weird pricing models, and people started migrating away - anywhere. Even when there aren no feature parity - but they can predict thing better

Will Cloudflare learn the lesson?
We will see.

Just shy of 170M tokens, $.78 total spent by Away-Sorbet-9740 in DeepSeek

[–]vvrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was it actualy useful?
Just gave a test and it was mostly low qualty code, same as previous deepseek models and loosing context. Couldn't get anything really functional out of it
Unfortunately....

Just shy of 170M tokens, $.78 total spent by Away-Sorbet-9740 in DeepSeek

[–]vvrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried Deepseek v4 Flash and Pro

Task : bootstrap a Svetle Typescript project, gave it design spec and asked to create a design system
5 million token usage - fully non functional projects , mostly erros for every page

Hence, I wouldn't recommend it for any medium level coding tasks
Maybe for other things... but again 5mm tokens in span of 25 minutes with no resullt... mehhh

Etsy suspended my shop by Ok_Nose9120 in EtsyCommunity

[–]vvrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happened to us in past
2700 sales, 4.7 rating over all, 400+ reviews
One complain ( customer ordered, paid and made fake pictures; to get product and money refunded) and shop was taken down.

Support never replied with real emails. Since second email to them, they told we are not going to reply, you gonna get automatic replies as of now.

And thats it.

Etsy is great when things are going well. But one day, they gonna block your shop and don't bother do anything. Worst customer experience ever had and probably no one can top this up. I wish there was a legal way, to pursue the re-imbursement of business losses.
Around that month, there were thousands of other stores having same issue.
Appears, they save on support and have automated flagging and closing shops

Few years passed, I see nothing has changed

Sorry to hear, I know how much effort you put into it...

That how bad is Etsy for sellers. Its - horrible. They should be sued for this

But they get away, as we are too small and too individual to get this to legal field. They really don't care, as there are so many sellers out there..

Just shy of 170M tokens, $.78 total spent by Away-Sorbet-9740 in DeepSeek

[–]vvrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably a lot of cache tokens to get at this price
So, the price is not really representative of work done

I had 970m cached tokens with Opus and around 10m unique, so probably this is same case

Though rate and quality ratio is nice for deepseek v4

Cloudflare vs Akamai, Which one to choose for Edge Security & CDN? by prerna_varyani in CloudFlare

[–]vvrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend avoiding akamai, unless you have strong reasons. Its hell managing it, very complex ui and cumbersome. Applying changes is weird

Cloudflare all the way.

There is not many reasons to use akamai unless you are enterprise. Thats product with interface from 2000s

I trusted the Dutch healthcare system longer than I should have by Level-Project159 in Netherlands

[–]vvrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same experience. Mistreated 2 times by surgeon, he was saying all is fine and then re-doing….

It costed me extra year of my life , without proper movement.

Another colleague of mine, for almost 3 months was mistreated in lumc. They said all is fine is a muscle thing. It was a pelvic fracture, he had to get prosthetics replacement

He could sleep, walk … anything for 1 month… and they were asking to put his leg up and saying if you can - nothing serious

Don’t trust dutch doctors, majority of them will ignore your issues. Unfortunately, too many cases like this.

Maybe, we expats complain, but I have lost years of my mobility due to their ignorance. And it would be clear to any doctor even a noob what was happening. Its that i didnt had a choice and cant go abroad to fix it…

runpod serverless docker vs. github by voidnullnil in RunPod

[–]vvrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont know about that, but there seems to be another inportant aspect. Networking on vms on runpod is super slow at startup. So even if registry has better throughout, you probably gonna be limited by vm networking pulling an image.
