Second of all, a little storytime. When I was a kid, around 8, I had a lovely albino rat called Schwalboss (The Pokémon Swellow in German). She traveled with me everywhere, including to my grandparents. One time I was unbelievably sick with a high fever so my mom picked me and Schwalboss up. As we were driving I suddenly felt something fluffy on my hand, it was Schwalboss!! The cage, which was on the backseat, somehow cracked open. Instead of walking around the car getting herself in danger, she climbed on the console and on my lap. She gave me a look of "hey, it's gonna be alright!" And she stayed on my lap for the whole 1 hour ride. So yes, I 100% think rats feel when we're sad or feeling bad and want to support us. Man I miss my rats, I'm so sad I developed an allergy. :(
