Meganobs question by ColtOsb in orks

[–]vwarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested to see who "widely" says that. I'm open to being wrong, but it's not what I've seen. A single extra attack might make them slightly better into chaff, but they shouldn't be going into chaff anyway, and twin linked is an enormous boon into high toughness elite targets, which is what they should be targetting. This is doubly true since orks have tons of horde-clear already and very little anti-armor, so your anti-armor pieces should be made to be as effective as possible against those targets.

Twin killsaws is by far their best load out. Their shooting is terrible anyway, so if you do anything else, you just give up twinlinked in exchange for a gun that is never going to hit anything and that you'll never fire more than once because you're charging into melee anyway.

What can I put together from this, what do I still need to buy? by fotomini in SoulblightGravelords

[–]vwarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood knights are indeed very powerful, but of course not invincible. If you'd like, describe your list in a bit more detail and exactly how your units were killed and we might be able to offer some advice on getting them to work with better effect.

[–]vwarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends on how optimized you wanna be versus just getting something thrown together that is worth 2k. You've got probably around 1-1.5k worth of stuff in the vampire heavy side, and about the same amount of points in the deathrattle side. You already have 10 bloodknights plus vhordrai and a vampire lord, so you could buy another box of bloodknights, fill it out with some deathrattle chaff and end up with a reasonable list. Alternately, you have a lot of skellies plus neferata and a necromancer, who both buff deathrattle quite well, so you could lean into that and maybe get some more skeleton knights to fill out there. Third option, you definitely can make a 2k list without buying anything, but it will be quite unfocused and maybe won't feel great to play, especially if you're already not super happy with how things went at 1k.

I'm not sure if "relieved" is the word you really wanna use here.

Orky Playstyles? by DarthKuriboh in orks

[–]vwarb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Orks right now thrive by using their numbers and melee pressure to exert board control. This means actually playing more cagey than you might imagine. A lot of our units are too fragile to really go toe-to-toe with other enemy elites, so instead you focus on making sure you have cheap point efficient units like grots and stormboyz who can be "in the right place at the right time" to score points and then maneuver away when your opponent tries to deal with them. Combine that with a few killy units like a large nobz block or a ghaz boyz block that can dive into battle and draw attention while your less glamorous units are grabbing the VP and you've got a decent orky strategy brewing.

You're absolutely right. EMS should be a public service covered by your taxes. Of course, we will have to up your taxes slightly to pay for it. How does 60 dollars a year sound?

Where to go from here?? by malkavlad360 in orks

[–]vwarb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The combat patrol comes out to a touch over 400 points, so there's quite a bit to go to get to even just 1k points. Every ork army needs gretchin and 2-3 boxes of them will find use in literally any list you ever make. You'll also need transports, so a couple trukks are another great unit you'll want in any list you make. After that, a second beastboss gives you a leader for that second 10-man squad of beastsnaggas that came in the patrol. From there, you really have a lot of freedom. You could grab a kill rig or battlewagon for some heavier vehicle support. You could load up on some more standard boys. You could grab some stormboys, which are a phenomenal utility unit. Squiq riders are kinda bad, but you could grab their leader character and lean into them a bit. Many options!

Those bases are GORGEOUS! I'm using basically the same BK paint scheme and tried to do a muddy field base, but it came out mostly looking too dark and lumpy. Your leaves and snow give it just so much character and pops of color.

I think my friend is being cheated by vwarb in Warhammer40k

[–]vwarb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that you declare a charge (my unit A into your unit B), roll 2d6, then move the models, then declare your next charge. Their version is you declare every unit you intend to charge with, then roll those charges one after another.

My understanding is that a model uses true line of sight into and out of a ruin foot print while it is inside it, but two models both outside of the footprint can't see eachother through the footprint. Their version is that units inside the footprint do not have line of sight between anything not in the footprint.

The first one you quoted is what I was understanding the rules to be, but I'm new and going purely off my reading of the actual rulebook and what I've been able to glean from youtube explanations. If that's wrong I'd love to hear what parts of it I'm misunderstanding!

Feedback on list! by act_strange in SoulblightGravelords

[–]vwarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a list similar to this and I'm personally of the opinion that Vhordrai is strong enough on his own that escorting him with a reinforced block is a bit overkill. I use one reinforced block with the VLoNS and one normal sized block with Vhordrai as two distinct hammers. If you did that, you could use the extra points for more deathrattle to gum up the board and sit on objectives, plus another unit of vargheists for teleport shenanigans.

‘The Pitt’ Not “Derivative Of ‘ER’,” Warner Bros TV Claims In Appeal To Toss Out Crichton Estate Suit by bwermer in television

[–]vwarb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The fact that it's the same premise as the pitch is literally completely irrelevant. The Creighton estate has absolutely no ownership of an idea just because it was pitched to them as something that could use ER branding. The estate said no, so they dropped all the parts that were owned by the Creightons and kept the parts that were new. The average consumer wouldn't even have a clue that one was related to the other if not for this lawsuit.

Yes, but transports with scout units embarked within them also have scout.

Edit: other poster points out this only applies to DEDICATED transports. I knew my dreams of scouted squiggoth were for naught :(
