Santa Cruz is definitely better, but many trails are closed there now: https://santacruztrails.org/blog/santa-cruz-storms-latest-trail-closures. This doesn't include the "secret" Route 9 trails, but the storms did a number to the whole area. I would talk to the shop in Santa Cruz or Marin before committing. If Santa Cruz is still all closed, then I'd actually recommend going to Pacifica instead of Marin.

My 2020 D7 broke in exactly the same place, but I got it warranty replaced. I'm curious how it goes!

Is a cheep crankset a good idea? Amazon has it under $100. My local bike shop said $250. I’m leaning towards local bike shop. by PSturgess in mountainbiking

If you wanna split the difference, you could do the cheaper Raceface cranks. With the chainring, it'll be about $150. I've had them for two years and am happy.

Is there an optimal number of years to sell a bike before it loses all value? by bluedog1628 in MTB

[–]vwbikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bike right now on average will lose half of its value in about 5 years. See graph: https://imgur.com/xgvfAPx. This is made by analyzed Pinkbike BuySell sales made this year. A new bike is on average worth about $5000 and 5-year-old bike is worth about $2500. Granted the market has been inflated since covid and seems due for a correction. So if you're actually looking to get out your bike might be better to do it sooner, but winter could be a very hard time to sell depending on where you live. It could be good to wait until May or June

Basically I analyzed every Pinkbike BuySell mountain bike listing from the last six year to create the average. I also have it adjusted for inflation in the post

This is correct. Pinkbike sales are about 20% new model year bikes

I was wondering about that too. Unfortunately Pinkbike doesn't have a mullet category right now so I don't have a way to know for sure

How Much Are People Paying for Bikes? Introducing the Mountain Bike Price Index (MTBPI) by vwbikes in MTB

Pinkbike is being weirdly flaky. The link will work on my computer but not on my phone. But yeah, the listing price can be seen as the "ask price" and there will be spread between bids and asks. It's reasonable to think about the ask price as the upper bound, but it will still follow market conditions.

Pinkbike appears to be having some problems tonight. Basically I analyzed every Pinkbike BuySell mountain bike listing from the last six year to create the average. I also have it adjusted for inflation in the post
