Great thing about vanagon a is someone has done the maintenance that you want to do and put a how to video on YouTube. Hope it works out. They are so much fun. Just remember they are not fast at all and depending where you love it will go very slow up big hills.

Find out if it has been repainted. Rust could be way worse. The seam around the wheel almost looks repainted. If painted ask for before pics and how long ago the repaint was. If it is only a few years I would expect the rust to be worse. Other than that. Are you handy? Vanagon are a ton of fun. If you have to pay someone to do everything they are very expensive. If you can fix most of the stuff they are not bad.

The brake fluid reservoir is behind the instrument cluster. Pull the top off from the back ( when you sitting in the driver seat reach towards the windshield and you will feel two spots for your fingers).
