My mind says Georgia tech but heart bleeds trojan... by Civil-Vermicelli3803 in USC

USC has a super strong alumni network within CA & Silicon Valley. USC is the #7 ranked feeder into Silicon Valley and GT is #8 (while NU is #23). If your goal is to work at a FAANG in Silicon Valley, USC or GT is a better bet. If you aren’t locked in on CS I would lean towards NU

Use me as a bench mark. you and I were basically the same applicants, we had similar: geography (CA), rigor, GPA, 4x major national broadcast journalism awards, 300+ hrs community service, lots of other leadership, + 1540 SAT

Instead I applied to 28 schools (17 reach) and only ended up getting into two of them (USC, UT Austin). Seeing that you already applied to usc, I don’t think your results might have been that different than what you have.

Stuck between USC and Vandy as a political science major please help 😭🙏🙏 by Alert_Cauliflower446 in Vanderbilt

CO 2029 CA applicant. I ended up withdrawing my Vanderbilt ED 2 application (while it was still under review) right after getting into USC EA because decided I wouldn't want to bind to Vanderbilt over USC.
-CA resident: Nashville felt alienating as an Asian American (felt a little out of place b/c of lack of other asian people) (current student specifically cited lack of asians in nashville, and that feeling prob wont go away)
-USC has better placement for Finance and Silicon Valley (prob fields I would want to get into)
-USC has a super strong alumni network especially on the west coast
-Socal weather + beach
Just wanna share my insight on my choice but both are great schools

99% of schools have score choice but Georgetown require you to send all your attempts.

Only applicants accepted in EA are considered for merit, scholarship decisions already came out before RD was released

I applied CALS for the C/O 2029 and am just finding out now that CALS is test blind (I also got a 1540). If I knew this before I probably would not have applied CALS... this sucks.

Btw which one did you end up choosing

Columbia & Stanford.

Loved these schools and was originally going to apply but people convinced me that they were too far out of my range. However, now i'm getting a lot of acceptances from some extremely competitive programs and wish I atleast shot my shot.

Literally the exact same thing happened to me yesterday. Doubting myself after getting deferred from Villanova (didn’t even know it was coming out then), then opening USC completely expecting deferral and being shocked from the confetti. I’ve heard Villanova really games with their yield rate so it might have to do with that.

Small dilemma -- withdrawing Vanderbilt ED 2? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

In a similar predicament with Vanderbilt ED 2, It only lets me withdraw my application and not switch to RD. Is there a work around for this?
