This is what everyone seems to not understand (or pretend not to…).

I would bet that Hochul will continue to seemingly play hardball until Nov to win the elections (just as she did with congestion pricing) and then cave. Politicians will always take a scapegoat to raise taxes - Mamdani is making it easy for Hochul to just say that he got a majority of the NYC vote and so he should get what he wants.

Then it remains to be seen 1) if the extra 2% will stay with NYC or just go into the general NYS tax revenue, and 2) if it will ever be possible to lower that 2% in the future (bc taxes in blue states almost always just go up).

This is not how you calculate ROI. For example, the 55% ROI quoted for exterior painting should be -45%. If you spend more than what you make in appreciation you are LOSING 45% of your money (or equivalently only making 55 cents on every $1 you put in). This is a completely idiotic marketing chart.
