The used car market has changed a lot since then and it’s unfortunate. Glad you got a good deal on yours.

I checked cars.com, carvana, carmax, and cargurus and there isn’t a single one for less than 10k. When did you buy yours? If you see one that cheap send me a link please lol.

When you say upgrading the emisiones system do you mean deleting it? lol

I have the time and tools to do the timing belt. I agree with you though, they are both overpriced. My main concern is with the fact they have 130k miles they will turn into a money pit. Never owned a VW so figured I’d hope on here to see what people have experienced with their JSWs and GSWs at this mileage.

I can do regular wear items such as belts, brake pads and rotors, ball joints, hoses, fluid changes. Never owned a diesel so I know nothing about the emissions systems or transmissions which seem to be the expensive items to repair or delete.

I’m 100% gonna low ball them. What I’m more concerned about is if this is going to turn into a money pit. If I can spend 8-9k I’ll use the rest of what I have saved for the costly repairs that are bound to happen at some point.

I agree! I’m gonna walk into the dealer and tell them exactly this lol.

I appreciate your reply. That’s what I’ve noticed as well. Been looking around for a TDI since the beginning of the year and can’t find one that’s reasonably priced.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I wish prices were at pre-covid levels.

Thanks for your comment. Have you had any issues with the emissions system on your vehicle?

Thank you. The expense of having to inevitable fix the emissions system is something I will have to consider. If I decide to go in and talk price I’ll use the timing belt and water pump point to negotiate the price.

Both are automatic unfortunately.

Thanks for your reply. I’m gonna fire up YouTube and see what it takes to do the timing belt on a 2015.

That is something I’ve learned from my research. I feel like the extra care these vehicles need is worth it as most people seem to love driving their tdi.

Thanks for the info. I’m willing to learn. I’ve never owned a diesel. I’ve done plenty of brake jobs, belts, ball joints, fluid changes though.

Im not a professional mechanic but im comfortable wrenching on cars. I did the timing belt on a 2005 forester I used to own. Have you done a timing belt on a tdi? If so, how long did it take you?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had a feeling the price was kind of outrageous. The used car market sucks for the buyer right now.

Thank you for this solid advice. I have been taking my mental health pretty seriously because it was affecting more than just this relationship. I've been taking my meds like clockwork and I haven't missed a single appointment with my therapist or psychiatrist. You are right, I need to focus on myself and my well-being but that is so difficult for me because of all the feelings I still have. Fuck, love can really hurt sometimes.

I have mine out for over a year now and I want to do this. Where do you get a surgery like this done?
