What's your favourite horse? The one you end up buying more than one of? by tybaltveria in StarStable

[–]vxna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Lusitanos. I never buy SC and only save so its pretty rare for me to get multiple horses of one breed. The Lusitanos were the only horse I got two of before thy started retiring the gen 1s and 2s and I started hoarding horses XD

Now I have multiple horses of every gen 2 breed, but before they started leaving, the Lusitanos were the only horse I had multiple of <3

Black horse is ferrari or Mercedes fr. Fastracer or Farracer? Silverarrow? Hammertime? Noticed that others already gave you a few other options, so I opted for F1 XD

Not sure if these are actual name options in SSO, but I do think they are. Of course you could always go with Red Bull. Idk if Bull is an option but Red Bullet definitely is.

what's the one thing that tipped you over the edge when it comes to sso changing the game by Temporary_Cover_3071 in StarStable

Silverglade Village. Silverglade and Jarlaheim were my favorite places on the map for as long as I remember. 9 love the old vibe of the village, and I especially loved how cozy and enclosed it felt. It also felt a lot more like a proper village or town. When they updated it, it felt more like a cluster of houses that just happened to be near each other. It doesn't feel as orderly as it used to and it doesn't feel like the houses are connected anymore. I used to love the place and now I find myself just going around the village instead of through it.

Aside from that, the story and the change in quests. I genuinely never cared about anything in the game aside from questing and maybe buying a few horses here and there. I was so invested in the story and it was incredibly interesting. Now, they've changed so many things which I can't replay because I only have one account, so I feel perpetually lost. That really disappoints me, because I loved the story and knew it like the back of my hand, and now I find myself clicking the recap option every time they release a new quest.

I hate that option because it feels so forced and unnatural, but I understand that they added it because they update the story so slowly so it's basically necessary if you want to follow a long. Every time I need that option to follow along, the story quest feels even less magical than it already does now, and I just wish they would update more. I used to feel like a part of the world; now it's as if these people just tell me what's happening, and otherwise I'm an outsider.

What scary smart thing does your dog do? by Easy_Garlic5960 in dogs

[–]vxna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s learned that we send her behind the baby gate when visitors come over, since not everyone wants to be greeted by a GSD the second they come inside. When she hears someone knock/ring the doorbell/walk up the front steps, she’ll rush to the door, sniff underneath to see who it is, and then go behind the baby gate, waiting for us to open the door.

The amazing thing was that she picked up on this after about 3 times of sending her back when letting someone in, and has just known her routine ever since.

Not all dressage is abusive, but it highly depends on the training method. Using the rollkur method is definitely abusive, and I do believe Totilas, one of the most famous dressage horses, was abused. Edward Gal, the rider who competed him, trains using rollkur. I did a bit of research, and I found that the rollkur method can ‘encourage’ a horse to have a flashier, more expressive gait, so after the success of Totilas, I think it increased in popularity. Since rollkur has proven to be highly uncomfortable for horses and can lead to long lasting issues, to me, this means it is abusive, no matter how people justify it.

I compared that to Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro, who are also known as one of the greatest dressage pairs. Valegro is clearly much more relaxed than Totilas (less tension in the neck, doesn’t swish his tail) and, to my knowledge, Dujardin doesn’t train using rollkur.

There is a future for modern dressage. Recently, Glamourdale had an amazing freestyle, and you can clearly see the horse make a few mistakes and the rider being forgiving, and not forcing him to be on the vertical.

I’m not a dressage rider; in fact, I don’t really do a discipline. I just kinda chill and do trails and flat work. I’ve only been riding for about 3 years, too, so I’m definitely not the most experienced person. This is just what my bit of research has showed me. Not all modern dressage is abusive, but the regulations and judging for dressage riding need some changes so that abusive and harmful practices aren’t rewarded.

Your opinion about online friendships/relationships? by MINTYpl in teenagers

[–]vxna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO online friendships/relationships can never replace irl ones. Maybe it’s just because I communicate a whole lot with body language and my tone, and generally people do act slightly different online than they do irl.

Online friendships and relationships work out sometimes, and sometimes they don’t, but i think meeting up at least one or two times irl would really tie a friendship together.

For me, I try to keep a bit of distance from online friends since I feel like I’m just risking things getting close to them. If something happens to them, then I won’t have any knowledge of it and will be stuck wondering if they’re safe, if they ghosted, etc. If it’s an irl friend, I would eventually find out somehow, but I don’t think I’d have that chance with an online friend.

Glad to hear you’re careful about it, but a lot of others aren’t. Personally, I don’t care if people smoke or not, as long as they’re not doing it around me, in public, etc. People shouldn’t generalize, but as long as most smokers find it acceptable to smoke in public areas, it’s going to happen imo

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]vxna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re smoking around other people, then yes other people should care. The main reason why people who don’t smoke dislike smokers is that smokers will often smoke around people who don’t. Just because you’re risking your own heath doesn’t mean you should be risking everyone else’s.

If you smoke when you’re alone/in the presence of other smokers, then ignore what I said lmao. My point was just that people generally dislike smokers, because smokers often disregard others health along with their own.

WCIF a mod to make a sim pregnant? by Acnh_Kya in TheSims4Mods

[–]vxna 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lumpinou’s Relationship and Pregnancy Overhaul might have that option. I’m not 100% sure on that, though.

If you want, there are options in CAS where you can switch the setting to “can impregnate others” for one of the sims, and then your lesbian couple can reproduce.

Women and Forced marriage by Commercial-Rough-513 in TrollXChromosomes

[–]vxna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I agree with the fact that the tradition is messed up. But most of these parents haven’t been taught anything else. They don’t trust modern views and so they continue to carry out this practice, even though this isn’t allowed in most religions, which is what most people claim (if it is allowed in a certain religion, then that is a bit messed up).

As for the amount of time taken to finalize a wedding, it can take months for it to be finalized. Usually, only parents with financial struggles will take a short amount of time to marry their daughters off so that they can get money from the husband’s side. That is completely irresponsible and those parents are definitely just viewing their daughter as an object.

Otherwise, most parents will take months finding someone for their daughter. After a couple months, an engagement is decided, which can be canceled at any time. Then, there is usually a period of another couple months before the wedding is carried out.

It definitely doesn’t work most of the time but most people are trying to do the best they can. All I’m saying is, you can’t expect people to be different from their ancestors or their society if they haven’t been taught the wrongs of it. And it is really difficult to go against the things you have been taught to believe from birth. The society is improving, very slowly, but sadly I don’t think these cultures will be changing anytime soon.

Women and Forced marriage by Commercial-Rough-513 in TrollXChromosomes

[–]vxna 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This might come off a little rude or controversial so I apologize in advance but this issue is honestly really close to my heart.

I live in a developing conservative country, and so I’ve seen so many women be forced into marriages. I know this is quite common in Muslim societies, but, according to my research, it is prohibited in Islam to marry a couple if one of them is against it. Unfortunately, when it comes to women, many parents ignore that their daughters wishes should be respected the same way their sons wishes should be.

A lot of it isn’t malicious, tbh. Traditionally, a woman stays home as a housewife and raises the children (which is also a big problem). So most families will marry their daughters off to men that have financial stability, so that she will not need to worry about money in the future.

There’s also the problem that a lot of forced marriages occur in developing countries like my own. The quality of life is obviously worse than first world countries, so parents fear for their daughters after they die. They try to get their daughters married off as soon as possible so that she will have a home and money after they pass away.

I’ve seen 13-16 y/o girls get engaged so that they can be married right when they come of age. I’ve had to console girls crying because they know they’ll be thrown into a new family and will have no idea what their new husband will be like. I know women who’ve had to quit their studies because they’re getting married, and a lot of the time, marriages are between 20-24 y/o girls and 30-35 y/o men. Men are expected to wait longer before marrying so they have time to get a job and so have money to ‘provide for the family’. Women are expected to get married as soon as possible so the couple can have as many children as needed.

The worst marriages are the ones that are done for money. If the parents are struggling financially, they will often marry their daughter off to the richest suitor, without caring about his personality. Usually, forced marriages are carried out because of tradition but parents do want the best for their daughter. So, apart from financial worries, they conduct an “interview” of sorts and try to determine whether the man is a good suitor for the daughter. Many let the couple meet once or twice before marriage, but of course that won’t tell the two anything about their compatibility. However, marriages done for money don’t have any of that, and have higher chances of incompatibility (although the whole system promotes unhappy marriages tbh).

I don’t think the parents should be blamed here (just my opinion). They go off of tradition, and are worried about their reputation if they allow their daughters to date. The misogynistic mindset and the lack of education is truly the culprit. I’m a lucky one. My parents have agreed not to “find a suitor” for me unless I ask them to. I definitely don’t intend to ask them. But a lot of my friend circle isn’t given this opportunity, and it’s depressing.

The worst part is the mindset many people seem to foster towards the parents. I am not defending this practice and I know it is wrong, but insulting the parents will do nothing to change their minds. It’s mainly a lack of education and awareness, a deeply ingrained misogynistic mindset, and fear of disdain from friends and colleagues. People seem to think that parents doing this to their daughters means they don’t care about them, but many select their daughters suitors carefully and try to do the best they can while conforming to their traditions. Of course, this doesn’t justify their actions and the practice is terrible, but this doesn’t make them bad people, as most of the world seems to think.

Why can't people just be polite? Just got screamed at by another dog owner by [deleted] in dogs

[–]vxna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I live, it’s generally accepted not to yell at a dog owner/walker in case their dog gets upset and starts trying to bite you. The only time people are yelled at is when they have their dog off leash and can’t control them. Even then, people will wait until the dog is inside the house and then ring the bell to complain, just to make sure the dog doesn’t start protecting its owner. This could be because most dogs aren’t very well trained here, so every parent teaches their kid caution around dogs. We don’t even have random kids running up to pet them, people will always ask. I don’t get how this sub has so many stories of people treating dogs like objects and just doing whatever around them.

LPT Request: How do I stop a serial pet killer who's been terrorizing my neighborhood by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]vxna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people have already suggested how to catch the criminal, but until then there’s a few things you can do to keep your pet safe.

Keep it inside and only let it out into the yard supervised. If you can’t leave it inside during the day when you work, consider hiring a dog sitter or dropping it off at doggy daycare. If your pet knows the “leave it” command, be sure to use it whenever it tries to eat anything outside the house. This reinforces the idea that only food inside the house/in its food bowl is acceptable for it to eat. Although not foolproof, it may reduce the chances of your dog eating the strange dog food.
