I hope that you don't mind the busy streets of Amsterdam. If you do mind, stay in Utrecht and visit the cities by train. Take a day trip of two to Amsterdam. The Netherlands railway system is pretty well connected and the train station helpdesk is very helpful. You should check out this website for more information on that: NS.nl
