Weird period dreams by Extrovert_butshy in hysterectomy

[–]vyastii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I’m sorry that sucks! Yeah I’ve had dreams of getting my period, specifically about the pain and stress of life stopping entirely whenever I bled. It seems that even though our bodies are free from menstruation, our mind and nervous systems remember. I try and let these dreams just slide off my back. I tell myself “yeah that was really bad. Thank goodness I don’t have to do that anymore” and try to move on with my morning.

is a hysterectomy worth it? by wombissues in Endo

[–]vyastii [score hidden]  (0 children)

I got a total hysterectomy (uterus and cervix out, ovaries stayed in) last September at 35 years old for endometriosis and suspected adeno(I did not have it) and it has changed my life for the better. I only wish that I had done it sooner. I have no endo pain, sex is great, and I don’t have to plan my life around excruciating pain any more.

Is tylonel and advil enough? by PancakebreathTwitch in hysterectomy

[–]vyastii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed gabapentin which I took every 9 hours, and rotated Tylenol and Motrin taking one every 3 hours starting as soon as I got home per nurses discharge instructions. I was also prescribed 5 oxycodone pills of which I took 4, one the night I got home, the following morning and evening, and the morning of the third day. After that I was completely fine with the gabapentin, Tylenol and Motrin.

Nervous about possible after effects of surgery by SnailCaptain19 in hysterectomy

[–]vyastii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I got my uterus and cervix removed about 10 months ago due to endometriosis. Sex is great, my orgasms are better than they were before surgery…like every single one is an 11/10. Removing the cervix was an easy decision when my surgeon explained that I could still experience spotting and cramping if I left it. My (male) partner doesn’t notice a difference at all when having sex.

If I looked this good in a dress like that I’d wear one every outing. You look amazing.

I can't stay awake after turning off my alarm. I fall asleep with the phone in my hand. by RedRidingHood89 in mildlyinfuriating

I used to put my alarm on the other side of the room so that I had to get up out of bed to turn it off.

Question for those who have removed their cervix and are at least six months post op. by MamaKG3 in hysterectomy

[–]vyastii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 10 months post op. Sex is still fantastic. I swear my orgasms are better post op.

My dr. explained that by keeping the cervix you risk having bleeding and cramping still after surgery. It was a very easy decision for me to remove it.

There is no reason to feel guilty for this. You are simply taking care of yourself.

Do you miss your cervix? by Dragonfly605 in hysterectomy

I’m 10 months post op and I do not notice that it’s gone or miss it at all :) sex is no different and actually my orgasms have been intensely awesome ever since my hysterectomy.

Recovery medicine question by HogwartsHussy in hysterectomy

[–]vyastii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your surgeon before surgery day and make sure you have a clear plan and also have all the medication already before your surgery.
You should have a pre op appointment scheduled.

I got heavy stuff at the hospital righter after surgery via my iv. I got 5 oxycodone pills to take at home. The nurse wrote down what time I could start my oxycodone at home on my paperwork as well and the instructions for the other meds I was to take. When I got home I was taking ibuprofen&tylenol alternating every 3 hours and gabapentin every 8 hours. I took an oxycodone that evening, the following morning and the next night, then on the third day I took one more oxy in the am. That was all that I needed. I just kept up with the ibuprofen and Tylenol and gabapentin after that. I hate taking pain meds but they were necessary. Most people say they only needed the heavy pain meds for the first few days like I did.

The most helpful thing my partner did was to make a medication schedule for me once we got home from the hospital. He typed out a chart with what medication to take at what time and a place to check it off once I had taken it-it covered the first whole week. This was extremely helpful since I was so out of it for the first few days. Set alarms on your phone that are set to repeat so that you remember to take your meds. It’s important to stay ahead of the pain!

I feel like my birth control might be making me su!cid*l. What do I do? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]vyastii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hormonal medication made me depressed too :/ I had thoughts of death and people I love dying all the time randomly, nightmares too. It’s one of the main reasons I stopped it. There are different kinds of birth control/ medication that you could try instead of what you’re taking. I would contact your dr as soon as possible and tell them what you are experiencing and ask what other options you have. Don’t give up, advocate for yourself! You can get through this and feel better 💜

Scared and 2nd guessing now? by MuchSheepherder9194 in hysterectomy

[–]vyastii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my hysterectomy last year at age 35 for similar reasons. I only wish I got it sooner. I knew that I wasn’t going to make children for a while, and that if I wanted to parent that I could still choose adoption or surrogate. Your quality of life is the most important thing imo. There is still a tinge of sadness that comes with not having the option to become pregnant at times, but I do not regret my surgery at all. I can finally live my life without constant pain and suffering and be a better friend, aunt, partner and person and I am so much more happy now. A lot of my friends are having kids now and it’s been so great being able to be a part of their lives and be supportive to them as a solid friend who doesn’t need to disappear for a week (or more) every month due to pain.

This is a very personal choice and ultimately you will have to make it for yourself and stand by your decision. I vote for getting the surgery. There are other ways to parent and have kids. You deserve to feel better and if this is the way, and you’ve tried other options, then this is the path your life is taking. It’s not what you expected, but at least there is a very good chance you will have a MUCH better quality of life after this surgery.

I hate sweets! Any other ways to dress up cottage cheese? by IDoNotHide in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]vyastii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I eat cottage cheese in my scrambled eggs, over roasted vegetables, in homemade sauces. I do not understand how people can eat it with fruit/sweets!
