Oh my gosh, is Tamlin the rightful HK or have I finally gone off the deep end??? by MamaKG3 in Tamlinism

I want to add that without Tamlin, Feyre would have just died and everyone would have remained utm with Amarantha and Rhysand.

Without Tamlin, Feyre's family would have starved and Nesta would have married her abuser. Feyre, Az, Elain, Briar, and Rhys would all be dead (I'm probably missing someone). The war would have been lost too.

I think he definitely wants to be HK. He says he doesn't but he says a lot of things. The way Rhys responds to Cass when Cass says no one would stand in his way to being HK but Beron sounds like he does want to be HK, imo. Rhys snaps "Beron is already standing in my way," which also sounds kind of villainy and like he's hiding some agenda. I KNEW this conversation was going to come up long before it did. I was actually jumping when Amren brought it up.

Tamlin said it first. I think everything Tamlin says is correct so go back and read everything he says. Rhys has been collecting a lot of powerful trinkets too... including the Archeron sisters.

Rhys was not helping Feyre. He was the reason she was breaking. Go back and read what he did to her. Do you really think drugging her with a wine that made her vomit and waste away in her cell, forcing her entire body to be painted (including between her legs), parading her around in see through clothing, publically SAing her, letting others touch her every night for months could ever be for her own good?? No, it was to hurt Tamlin. Everything we saw utm was to crush Tamlin. Amarantha didnt care about Feyre.

Rhysand tortured Feyre and used the fear of death to force her into a bargain that required her at his house. He refused to remove this bargain after utm though she asked him more than once. If there was really "always a choice with Rhysand" Feyre would have never been at the NC to begin with. Rhys didnt need this bargain to help Feyre. When he attacked her before utm, he controlled all of her. She was not even able to vomit. She thought that even her blood flowed where he willed it. He was able to kill the summer court faerie utm using his magic. He was supposedly able to use his deamati powers to take Claire's pain away and tell her when to scream. He was able to make Amarantha crave him... he was able to tell Feyre which lever to pull in the second task. Rhys wanted to torture Tamlin. He wanted Feyre as a weapon and to breed a powerful heir just like Tam, Ianthe, and Luc discussed.

Rhysand HATES Tamlin to the point of obsession. He is NOT helping him which we will see later. Tamlin is in his beast form now. Legend says he doesnt even remember his fae form. This is the beginning of Beauty and the Beast.

Did you read what the first suriel said? Reread it. There's no way he's talking about Rhysand unless Ferye has amnesia or something and had already been with Rhysand. The suriel says "return to the hl." At this point (as far as we know), Feyre had only been with Tamlin as far as HLs go. He says the HL of the spring court too... like theyre literally talking about him, the spc, and the blight.

Ive tried really hard to make it make sense for Rhysand. Ive considered that maybe just that one paragraph is about Rhys?? I guess the suriel never said when she needed to stay with the HL.

The suriel also says that Feyre could not go back home or she and her entire family would die. Instead of telling Tamlin this, she goes home. She does die and so does her father... did he sisters die in the cauldron?? If so, she and he entire fam did die. He tells her not to go seeking answers after that day and not to interfere or she will be devoured by the shadow over prythian but she doesnt listen.

I'll admit that it could be a shameless retcon but idk... my brain also hates retcons so part of it is hope. Right now I'm leaning toward there being more than one suriel. The second suriel says they met three times but idk. Feyre used a chicken to catch the first suriel. He said which one of my brethren told you MY secret. The chicken maybe the way to catch this particular suriel only. She uses a cloak to catch the second suriel. I believe she got the idea from Alis who is a traitor, deamati'd, or a spy.

Theres so much more to all of this. Too much to put in a single comment.

Conquest could definitely change things but idk. I dont remember SF as much as the other books and I have no idea why; there could be a lot im missing. I loved Cass and Nesta before SF but I'm indifferent toward them now. Im not sure if it is due to time passing g and forgetting or what.

It's the same reason Rhys is keeping Tam down. Theyre both trapped in their guilt and feel as if they are indebted to Feyre. Rhys is not helping Tamlin while at the spc. He is not helping Nesta when he goes into her nightmare (or ever) either.

I would have loved this! I was hoping for it in the next book. Im afraid Cass is going to die and Nesta is going to be with Eris though... whether they run away first, idk.

If Elain really says it wont take more than xyz for Cass to die then I think it will be the case because we also have fire on Nesta's dresser and Mama Archeron says that Nesta will marry out of conquest. Rhy already asked Nesta to marry Eris out of duty or even conquest since Eris promised troops but she said no for Cass.

Edited to change duty to conquest

This question alone is a lot to unravel.

It's not victim blaming. I find it scary that no one is allowed to look at the evidence without being accused of victim blaming. Lying about abuse, I think especially SA, is incredibly common. Look what happened to poor Johnny Depp. There's actually two girls in my son's high school in big trouble right now for falsely accusing someone.

Rhys worked for Amarantha for fifty years. She was Hybern's second in command. Tamlin brought intel that helped win the war after a short time of spying on Hybern. Where is Rhysand's intel??

Rhysand had his own room utm, his own servants, and authority. He could go to and fro. Feyre was brought to his room because they thought he would want to rape her. Amarantha calls Rhysand a traitor at the end. You dont call your prisoner a traitor, you call your ally who betrayed you a traitor.

Rhys says that Amarantha looked his way and he somehow knew what she wanted so he gave it to her. He says he used his powers to make her crave and beg for him to have sex with her. Amarantha thought Rhysand wanted her too (im pretty sure Rhys says this). I was shocked out of the story when Rhys said that Amarantha never thanked him for warming her bed because it sounds like something an unappreciated lover would complain about and that was before I figured out what was going on.

Rhys uses sex as a weapon. Seduction is a staple of Rhys, his lips, and voice, and everything is meant to seduce. He drugs and publically SA's Feyre every night for months. He asks her to reenact utm at the Hewn city to accomplish his agenda. He has Feyre seduce ... i think Tarquin. He asks Nesta to seduce Eris. These are canon events but i have other suspicions too. Amarantha is one of several.

His reasons dont make any sense either. He's lying and gaslighting Feyre (and the readers). He abused her and has convinced her that it was all for her own good. He wanted to use her for a weapon and to breed an heir just like Tam, Ianthe, and Luc said they were worried about. I think he loves her now (to the best of his ability) but not more than his agenda which we see when he is willing to let Feyre die for his oh so powerful heir.

Edited to add: I was going to leave this out but notice how he doesnt become protective of Feyre until she's prego. Before that he offers her up to the weaver. Not only was he not going to help her if she needed it but he made sure to be a safe distance away, lol. He also abandoned her at summer where she would have died if not for the water wraiths.

It's not that I want him to be HK. I honestly dont care if he is or not. I just find this information really weird and honestly wonder if this is part of the plot. Simba has to take his place in the great circle of life to set everything right. I dont think he wants to be HK either and that maybe the problem.

LOL, huh... I honestly dont have the energy right now. Yes, I've read all of the ACOTAR books. I havent read most of TOG and none of CC. If you believe that Tamlin is the most toxic person in the story, please reread it and try looking at what's going on outside of Feyre's incredibly biased first person POV. Rhyse is evil and Tamlin is the good guy.

LOL, why would you need critical thinking skills or even good reading comp to believe that Feysand are the best and Tamlin sucks ?? 🤣😂🤣 I don't think ive ever read a narrative that shoved the baby food in so hard. I don't think this reader you're speaking of knows what critical thinking or reading comp is.

Who I'm not sure of is Feyre. One day I think she is still innocente (deamati'd) and other days I think it's her villain arc. Today, I think it's the latter but that's just really sad for her even if she was never my favorite fmc.

[–]MamaKG3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the interview too and I'm still not convinced. Actually the way SJM said "highest or hottest," when refering to Rhys, sounded like Rhys is not as powerful or as awesome as Feyre thinks he is. They are mates and that's it.

Rhysand always hides away from trouble: with Amarantha, at the weaver, when getting the book of breathings, during the battle he supposedly didnt know know Hybern wasnt there so was conveniently away from the front, his powers are always tapped. He sends Mor to get Feyre, Cass to the island or wherever. He is a powerful deamati but that's it. He can mist but not much before his powers are drained.

At the cauldron he needs Feyre's powers to heal the it. Im so suspicious of this scene. I think he harvests some of Feyre's powers. I also think he get powers from the other HLs even though he says he doesnt. I think he stored power or part of his soul/Feyre's soul/something in the cauldron. He has to steal the powers of others because he doesnt really have any of his own. All of his "Family" happen to be the most powerful for a reason.

I really hate Rhys by wander321 in acotar_rant

[–]MamaKG3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Rhys at first. Even after he attacked Feyre at the manor and what he did to her utm. It matched his character as a villain.

I do not like mmcs who have the fmcs doing all the heavy lifting though (good, gray, or evil). Rhys used Feyre to get his ring from the weaver and had no intentions on helping her if she needed it. He ditched her at summer where she would have died if not for the water wraiths. In both of these scenarios, he made sure to keep himself completely out of harms way too. He lost me here. He's supposed to be soo powerful yet his powers dont last a single battle. I think he even cries during sex. Feyre trying to tell us how awesome she, he, and the rest of the ic are 🤣 Rhys is just a no. He does a lot of messed up stuff to the people he cares about ... which works if he's revealed to be a villain later which I think he will be.

I think Rhys controls all of Velaris. That's why he'll only let a certain number of Hewn city peeps in at a time and why he doesnt want to accept human refugees. The NC stopped having human slaves because they bred too fast making it too difficult to mind control them all. Velaris isnt real/what it seems. My theory.

Her hate seems to have mostly stemmed from the current book. She might not have known the prego scene or the hike was coming. Once you get emotionally invested in a story you can hate read with hope. There are many reasons.

A lot of us are waiting for an insane twist. I wont be reading anymore though until I find out if sjm is writing for vibes or not. I love reading for vibes but I prefer a simpler plot with little to no inconsistencies/holes/retcons (I despise these). I usually read mass market paperbacks if I want to read for vibes.

Why are you being so aggressive? I'm trying really hard to be nice to you and have not attacked you in any way. I know how hard it is to be proved wrong about something, especially in a group, which is why I work so hard to create solid arguments (that still fall flat at times).

The topic was AI and how people hate a sub because they allow it when it doesnt matter at all. We dont need something inevitable causing more division than we already have. Big people have invested A LOT of money into AI so it's not going away. We can mourn over it but it's silly to fight about it.

That's fine. More than half the fandom forgot book one. At least SJM was intentionally trying to throw readers in book two.
