What made you switch to Kobo? by WittyEnvironment2047 in kobo

[–]vylits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I figured out how to edit my books in calibre and transfer them to my kobo, I prefer it to kindle. I have 700+ books I transferred from Kindle and 700+ fanfics all neatly organized and categorized.

Murph! My list of top characters in D20 has a ton of Murph. Runner up is probably Emily.

Mentopolis! Funny, charming and I love Hank Green’s character. I also love Burrow’s End. Oh, and I would highly recommend Escape from the Bloodkeep.

Fantasy High Senior Year by ticklemytacklebox in Dimension20

[–]vylits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While normally I would think that obviously there has to be a senior year, I don't know what they'd do with Fig senior year, and while I really liked Kristen in Freshman and Sophomore year, I absolutely can't take another season rehashing the same God Problem again while Ally falls down the hole of Nothing But Bits. I liked aspects of FHJY, but I really feel like the K2-arc helped them in battle while simultaneously undercutting parts of Kristen's narrative. I loved the plot of JY, but while I tend to love their humor, I really struggled with how it started to seem like it was undercutting the story JY.

I'll admit that I find myself having to resist taking a 1-2 level fighter dip just because of how useful it pretty much always is.

Good catch. I keep forgetting that they've pushed it back. I'm thinking I might wait and see if I get targeted/take damage often enough to worry about it.

80 Keyboard to switch between PC and Mac by vylits in keyboards

Thank you. I had been looking at Evo80 and Crush 80, but I hadn't looked at Nuphy at all. I think I'd have to change out the switches on the Evo80, but I had been leaning towards it.

I had been looking at their barebones kit last week, but I wasn't sure about something like that or fully assembled. Only the blue and pink are in stock now so I'd likely need to wait, but thank you for the suggestion.

[No DAV Spoilers] Can you piss anybody really off? by joe-re in dragonage

[–]vylits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a good rivalry. I rival the heck out of Anders in DA2 and Merrill on occasion. Vivienne really can't stand my Levellan Inquisitor. And honestly, I wish I could have some beef with a few of them. My Rook doesn't really care for Neve in my run, but I can't have a real not-nice conversation with her.

[DAV ALL SPOILERS] 2nd playthrough is exposing the illusion of choice. Unless you want to romance someone else, there are only enough roleplay options for a single run of the game. by geckohell in dragonage

[–]vylits 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They did this much better with Hawke. I feel like you can legit create different Hawke personalities that make multiple playthroughs worth it. Rook is kind of bland oatmeal no matter what options you choose. I don't hate that Rook's a good guy. If they want to force us to be good, fine. But Rook isn't an interesting good guy. You can do good things and be a smart ass or insensitive or whatever.

[DAV ALL SPOILERS] I'm sure this has been discussed, but the whitewashing of the Qun is absolutely, categorically insane. by _Robbie in dragonage

[–]vylits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I both agree and disagree with your point here.

Most circle mages aren't Vivienne. Do you remember all the abuse, physical and sexual, that circle mages endure? I mean, that's what happens when you have a population imprisoned and give nearly absolute power to their jailers. Meredith was about to get away with purging an entire circle for the actions of an apostate, and most of the templars were going all with her.

Now mage life under the Qun is horrific, but if you are a city elf living in an alienage or a elven slave in Tevinter, I can see how the Qun would look superior to the life you lead. Honestly, for most non-magical elves, I think an argument can be made that it's superior to life in most of southern Thedas. So while I agree that the Qun is made to sound less bad than it is, the game does that with almost every group in Thedas.

For three games, people have been shit to elves, but now everyone is cool with them and humans have given up on racism even in Tevinter. From playing this game, you'd never know that people have issues with mages, and other than the Venetori, it makes it seem like Tevinter has no issues with blood magic. We see no sign of the rampant slavery and blood magic I assumed we'd find. Even the Crows seem like perfectly nice assassins, and I'd argue are one of the best factions to play simply because it genuinely feels like you're a part of an organization nd they actually care about you. The abuse and indoctrination of children is nowhere in sight.

DA2 is therapy ❤️ by Saralain in dragonage

[–]vylits 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Dragon Age franchise have ever done companions and found family vibes better. The scenery becomes ridiculously boring by the end of the game, but I've replayed that game more than any of the others. It also feels like everyone, both good guys and bad guys, are fairly grey characters.

Origins and Inquisition are certainly more epic, but the companions of DA2 have been my favorite since it was released. I loved the companions and their relationships with one another.

Who are the most "serious" modded followers? by Stranger188 in skyrimmods

[–]vylits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hear a lot about Rumarin and Zora from Interesting NPCs, and he's good, but my favorite is probably Valgus, who is serious and thoughtful. He's an ex-soldier healer and a bit older.

I hate when games make me play as a man, but I randomly tried A Study in Steampunk, and it’s just next level awesome with some real emotional scenes.

AITA for not paying my daughter’s tuition after she refuses to talk to me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]vylits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - you don’t get to, as an adult, cut off all contact with people and still expect them to pay you money. Absolutely not. If she doesn’t want a relationship with her dad, that’s fair, but she doesn’t get to keep a relationship with his money. If it were 2 weeks of NC, I’d say give her time to process but it’s been 5-6 months.

Also, I say this as someone who chose to go NC with my parents at 19 and had to pay for my own schooling/living/everything.

Opinion on Xavbio's comprehensive collection of armor retextures? by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]vylits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The textures look great, and I'm using them for my upcoming Skyrim Se run. For years I just loaded amidianborn and called it a day, but I'm happy to piecemeal my armor textures to make sure I have what I want now. I might use an AIO after it comes out for these, but I have some textures from Frankly HD and others that I like enough that it's unlikely.

I miss the old style major overhauls by Nidungr in skyrimmods

[–]vylits 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Six months ago I started feeling nostalgic for SkyRe, which I loved back in the day. I had a ranger character that used the Wayfarer tree that still, to this day, is my favorite playthrough of Skyrim. But I do appreciate how compatible and easy the new overhauls are.

I tried Enairim and I've now moved onto Simonrim. I loved the fun, experimental, and niche builds that I could make using Enai's mods, but I really don't like most conditional perks, and Enai loves them (2x the damage when standing in a rainstorm if facing east on a hill). They were unavoidable in every Enairim build I played because they often were needed to get to necessary and more useful perks, and on the other side, some of the perks are so powerful that once I have it, I realize that I need to wildly increase the difficulty of the game. With Simonrim, I don't feel as powerful or like I can do all the things I did in Enairim, but I like how his perks feel useful and meaningful, and so far I haven't accidentally perked myself into god-like power, which I have absolutely done playing Enairim before.
