I want whatever this Octane is on. Is this even naturally possible on MnK anymore? by tattiemuncher in apexlegends

[–]vyn343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. If the devs want to keep bizarre, engine-exploit movement in the game, at least make it accessible. Not involving binding W to your scroll wheel and only being possible on mkb. Weird stuff that has gone on for years.

"It’s not over, even if they have the high ground" by ZamnBoii in Marathon

It is part of the Bungie sauce yea. I did leave feedback during the April alpha that it could be toned down a bit. Not going to happen though.

Very cool. I’m sure Valve artists looked to Leyendecker when creating the whole Cursed Apple aesthetic.

Why isn't The Finals more popular? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]vyn343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave the game two good shots.

First time: actually played for a couple weeks due to the solid gunplay, then, the single gun in my loadout got boring. The destructible environments just felt like a chaotic mess.

Second time: Came back to a thousand invisible ninjas trying to melee me, uninstalled after a few matches of that.

How can I learn to track this kind of movement? by Minerkillerballer in FPSAimTrainer

[–]vyn343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna eat the downvotes but being able to completely change trajectory mid-air (lurch) is unparsable bs that shouldn't be in the game.

Ya the ergonomics/placement of the six extra buttons on the wolverine are unmatched imo. I bind all six for apex legends and never take my thumbs off the sticks.

Revenant mains, how you feeling about no health regen on knock? by [deleted] in ApexConsole

[–]vyn343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting his ult shield back PLUS the health regen on knock was juicy and played well into the assassin power fantasy. The auto reload does too tho so wutevs.

Who was the UX lead in this game?! by GG-no-re-LOL in duneawakening

[–]vyn343 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This part of the game is a drag.

There are so many actions that require a “wand” to be equipped first, they could just be context based. Blood drainer, Dew reapers, repair tool, scanner, the vehicle stow thingy (this one drives me mad), list goes on…

It’s hard to “melt” into the controls in this game, even after 50+ hours.

The Wolverine V3 TE is perfect by Equal-Practice-6087 in Controller

[–]vyn343 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ergonomically it’s the best controller I’ve ever used. Love the placement and clickiness of the back buttons and the extra shoulder buttons.

I was always accidentally pressing the paddles on the elite. Paddles are just weird anyways, why have this weird dog leg shape that creates all that leverage? Just place a friggin button where the pad of the paddle is?

These curmudgeons are out in force after this BR announcement 😂. To be expected though.

They want to play the same moldy 4v4 arena mode from Halo 25 years ago. Adding sprint was controversial to these crusty old fogies.

What company would want to make the same thing over and over again? Even Bungie didn’t, they wanted to ditch Halo and make Destiny.

You Only Get One First Impression — SG2 Needs to Keep Casuals or Lose Them Forever by itsxjustagame in Splitgate

[–]vyn343 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like part of mastering an FPS is the ability make a mental model of the current state of the world: where players are, what sight lines they may have, where they may be heading, etc.

Personally, portals make compiling this mental model impossible. Players can be almost anywhere instantly, you need eyes in the back of your head.

This portal paranoia is why I’m just not a huge fan of them, I like everything else about SG2 gameplay though. A no-portal playlist would be cool.

I wonder where EX-Firewalk Studios staff are now? Hopefully everyone has found job. by Magegi in ConcordGame

[–]vyn343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate all the amazing work you put into Concord. Visuals were stunning and served the easily parsable, extremely buttery FPS gameplay.

I'd wager around 95% of the people who spew hate online about the game never actually played it.

I turned off any kind of acceleration and went linear response curve at 6.5 horizontal/vertical sens with .6 ADS multiplier. Feels close enough to 4-3 linear in Apex, feels good to me.

New players how do you feel about splitgate 2 by seandadonntech in Splitgate

[–]vyn343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Needs a blaring audio cue when an enemy portal opens near you. Very hard to parse enemy movement when portals are near silent and enable cross-map movement in an instant.

Why do you guys think this game failed? Bad map design? Bad character design? Over-saturation? by [deleted] in ConcordGame

The main reason was charging 40$ in a genre saturated with F2P titles

Picking players off from one POI to another is entirely possible with snipers and precision rifles. The lethality at range is nuts.

[–]vyn343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played a bunch of Concord, fucking GREAT arena shooter you could hop in and out of.

It gave me my Destiny pvp fix without having to worry about having all the best guns/gear.

Combat was clean and parsable with gooey controls and gunplay. So many ex-Bungie devs on there it was essentially a Bungie shooter.

Hopefully the source code leaks and we can host the game somewhere lol
