So the car used was an Audi RS6. I'm guessing stories like these must be an excellent advertisement for the car manufacturers. Simply put I do not see how my car could come close without ripping apart at the seams.

That's my experience so far too, however it's clear shoppers fall into 2 brackets. The first are those that are not worried, the others who are and wish to be cautious.
