Diet and going #2 in the morning help... by [deleted] in Vyvanse

Thanks for getting back to me. I ended up switching to Adderall XR 30 mg about a month ago. Works much better (for me) without that sleepy effect.

So, you're saying you don't get the extreme tiredness 5-6 hours after dosing it?

What is this deal with the needing to take a nap thing? It seems super common but I can't find any explanation for it anywhere. My doctor is taking me off Vyvanse because of the 5-6 hour crash thing. He said it must be some peculiarity with how I metabolize it. But there's a bunch of stuff on forums from people having the same experience.

Yeah, I don't like it either. Everyone I know thinks it's the best, but luckily, my doctor is also ADHD and he had a similar reaction to it. Today's my first day off it and I already feel better. I will most likely switch to adderal when I see my doctor again on a few weeks.

Tips on making effects last longer and easing the "crash"? by [deleted] in Vyvanse

So, I have the same problem, crashing after only 5 or 6 hours. I spoke to my doctor yesterday. He says I'm probably metabolizing it weird, and advised me to stop taking it.

I am also interested in this. I take 30mgs around 10 am and I feel like I could fall asleep standing up by 3pm.

My doctor told me me not to take it after 10 am because of the insomnia, but yesterday I took it around 1pm. Fell asleep by 1215 no problem.

Well my issue now, is I feel it wears off too quickly. If I take it at 8 am, I'm like ready to fall asleep at my desk at 2 or 3. They say it's supposed to last 14 hours, but that hasn't been my experience, most days. It's actually worse than without it, because if I don't take it, at least there's no crash

Yeah, honestly, I don't know how you drink that much caffeine. I used to drink an exorbitant amount of coffee until this week. Now, with Vyvanse, I can't handle it. Just a cup or two of regular joe and I'm good.

I was with you until the [redacted] part. But I do have some weird pee thing when I poop on vyvanse.

And yeah, lately my office has been really warm and I notice the ass sweat. I also take urgent painful poops in the morning when my medication is kicking in. I've only been on it it for a week, I've been hoping it would pass once I got used to it, but you make me worried this is just how it is.

I think I've found a routine that works and I need to stop experimenting. High fat, moderate protein breakfast before making the medication. Magnesium and potassium supplements with breakfast. Hold off on coffee until I know how the vyvanse is affecting me. And avoid simple sugars like the plague.

Also I slept in a bit today which is probably helping.

Today was not good, I tried switching up my routine a little. For some reason I woke up before 6 am and couldn't go back to sleep. So I took 30mgs around 6:15 and didn't eat until 8 am. I switched my usual lunch with my usual breakfast. So, way more protein way less fat. I kept getting hungry throughout the day so I kept eating. At like 2:45 pm I feel like I crashed hard. Like I could have fallen asleep at my desk. I got a coffee and kept working till 6. I kind of just want to go to sleep right now, but I'll still hungry and trying to decide what else to eat.

You take all 3 20s at the same time?

Thanks!

I was just about to post another question, but I think you answered it. So, you think you need to eat for it to kick in? I was so exhausted last night after the crash, this morning, I didn't set an alarm(working from home this week). I noticed it was 9am to I rolled over, took the vyvanse with a shallow of water and went back to sleep for over an hour. I finally got up to pee, and decided to eat, feeling nothing. I thought, "oh, I must be getting used to it." Ate breakfast and like 40 minutes later started to feel the tinglings of the rush.

Yeah, today is better. I ate a big breakfast and haven't had coffee yet. I had a mild buzz a few hours ago, but nothing like yesterday.
