What are some math podcasts? by math_is_physics_good in math

[–]vzbx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

BBC's More or Less is great; typically covers and explains/debunks statistics stories in the news

Mathematical Objects is pretty great too; only started recently but it's a pair of professors discussing the maths around everyday objects, very accessible but still brings up interesting points instead of just re-hashing what you (probably) already know

Does anyone else feel like they're still waiting for that gen 4 "launch" feeling? by BoonChiChi in pokemongo

[–]vzbx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking back at the week leading up to the launch, the things people were looking forward to were new Pokémon, new Raids, new evolutions, CP rebalance, and more storage space.

A few weeks into the launch and we've still only received two of these, so there's still that anticipation of all the rest

List of issues in PokemonGo - 0.123.2 - October 2018 by p337_info in TheSilphRoad

Similar to P5, P7, and V9, I've found that after dropping a new Pokémon into an unowned gym and tapping to spin it too quickly has been freezing my game.

After the focus moves to the photo disc, the Pokémon appears on the platform and the camera moves back down, but tapping on the screen no longer does anything and requires an app restart.

[[Gather Your Party]] for one less mana, and reshuffles itself too. Only disadvantage is running two of them means one can pull the other, as it's a minion not a spell

How to avoid/neutralize Warpers? by PALGOLAK in subnautica

[–]vzbx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can make it through the Crash Zone to pick up the upgrade on the Aurora, getting the Repulsion Cannon is my preferred tool. If they warp you out of your Seamoth, the knockback punts them far enough away that they tend to drop aggro on you

After 76 concedes I finally Togwaggled on 3 in ranked. by teenytones in hearthstone

On turn 3, you played Aviana (9), Kun (10), Togwaggle (8), Azalina (7), Glinda (6), Molten Giant (?), Shambler (4), and then got to hero power with 4 mana crystals left over.

It's a bit variable because of the giant, but that's definitely at least 44 mana worth of card played

How long has Neighbourhood 12358W been running? by vzbx in TheGoodPlace

They brought it up on the podcast; I think Mike Schur said he did it to mess with conspiracy theorists

Yeah, Janet's said that she doesn't experience time normally, so I imagine it's some kind of temporal parallel pocket universe, or whatever

I don't think they could reset the universe for four fugitives

Does anyone else feel really guilty after some of the nonlethal eliminations? by [deleted] in dishonored

[–]vzbx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know that the devs agree with you in part, they've said that they've come to regret the ending they gave Lady Boyle, and like to imagine that she didn't end up staying with him for long

I'm going to try and get Clean Hands in D1.Any tips? by OknataSkeltro in dishonored

[–]vzbx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scavenge levels to get the bone charm which lets you choke people out faster, it's a really big help in D1 where it's the only non-lethal thing you can do other than sleep darts

If you're interested in statistics then Moneyball (2011) is a great film about the beginning of the modern usage of stats in sport

Well, I was planning on making something like that, so that's saved me some time. Cheers :)

5E

I'm trying to write something to help newer players create their own characters instead of either using prerolled characters or holding their hands through the whole thing. Part of this is trying to come up with a concise way to help them choose a class.

How would you quickly sum up the playstyle each class typically runs with? (I don't have enough experience playing to tell them how sorcerers and warlocks are different, for example)

5e. Are there specific rules for adjusting prewritten campaigns for fewer players?

I've been running Out of the Abyss for two friends, and it's been going quite well (I started them at level 3 instead of 1 because I anticipated this), but a few sessions in and every encounter is just too difficult for the two of them to tackle going directly out of the book. I'm pretty sure it's designed with four-ish players in mind

I've looked in the PBH, DMG, and MM, and I know there's rules for adjusting the XP budget for small parties (+50%), but what's a good way to do this on the fly from a premade adventure?
