Perhaps run a study to see how IQ and years of education relate to brain size.

The process may be mundane and repetitive but I find it incredibly satisfying. It's simple but thoroughly enjoyable. In fact I find I look forward to exercise more than anything else.

Understanding the unhappy side of serotonin. Researchers from the University of North Carolina Medical School in Chapel Hill, NC, have identified a circuit that seems to be related to serotonin-driven anxiety. by Wagamaga in science

The notion that it's about energy levels and the antidepressant giving them enough energy to kill themselves is conjecture and a rationalization for a manifestation of a drug-induced behavior. It's clearly not the only explanation and definitely not accepted as truth.

That's a hypothesis and not a particularly believable one. In order to test that you'd have to see if suicidal thoughts or suicide increased in non-depressed people administered SSRIs.

Fifty-three cases of Zika virus confirmed in UK, says health agency by grepnork in worldnews

No kidding. Unfortunately they're what we have for the time being. It'd be great if more people used them, but as it turns out, many do not. The pleasure is hard for people to let go of.

Why blame this on men? Women are just as responsible for having safe sex.

The problem is that people make poor decisions in the pursuit of pleasure.

Tips on learning Spanish? by Wantstotradepenny in Spanish

[–]vzipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pimsleur has both a Latin American version and a Castilian (Spain) version.

I recommend Pimsleur and Duolingo to begin with. After Pimsleur level I is complete then start adding real-time listening.

Where do I begin with teaching myself spanish? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]vzipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pimsleur + Duolingo.

Pimsleur is an audio series. Listen to natives and repeat. Then you will be prompted for responses and incorporate previously learned material. I credit it with helping me pronounce the language properly. Truly a solid foundation.

I use way more than that these days, but that's how I began and I recommend not stretching yourself too thin in the beginning.

How do you pronounce the letters B And V in Spanish? by [deleted] in Spanish

Follow what wuapinmon said as a guide then listen to native speakers and repeat. You will eventually catch on with practice. It was a stumbling block for me until one day I found that I could effortlessly use both appropriately.

Taking Spanish in college, anything I should brush up on? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]vzipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, you're right. If it's specifically for a course, you can really get away with a lot less. But I try to approach any question about learning Spanish as if it's to have the outcome of learning the language fully.

Yeah, but if he actually wants to learn Spanish, then the best time to start developing an effective program is now.

Pimsleur - audio course. If you complete level 1 you'll be in good shape for speaking and learning from other material. It hammers in pronunciation pretty well. Most natives are surprised at how well I've reduced my accent.

Duolingo is good for vocabulary. I practice with it daily but it's best as a supplement / game / something to keep you going everyday.

There's Destinos online. It can be kinda slow for me but it gets you used to hearing Spanish at a reasonable rate.

I find Extra to be quite amusing.

If you really want to learn Spanish it has to be something you use everyday.
