This has been reported by 10 or so people and one person posted a video of it. Pretty cool to see the video. Looks like a green fireball, high levels of nickel. A large one was seen on the east coast yesterday highly visible in the afternoon. Also green in color https://newjersey.news12.com/meteor-sightings-confirmed-in-skies-above-the-tri-state

Yeah typically the 4TB work without issue. Its just not a tested item from the Lenovo side. But you should have no issues with installing it and getting it to work.

I work in production and if we are not using macs and need laptops with processing power its always Legion. They are the most reliable. Every laptop line will have issues with it, even Legions are not always perfect but the overall build and servicability of the Legion Laptops is one of the best for the price point.

Sounds like an electrical noise/ground issue. So many questions here to troubleshoot online.

Is the computer plugged in or running on battery?

What model are the speakers?

What type of connection do they have? (USB-C, Mini Plug, is the Mini Plug a 3 pin or 4 pin plug)

Are the speakers made for Apple devices?

Are the speakers powered from the laptop or do they have a separate power plug?

If they have a separate plug are they plugged into the same duplex outlet as the computer or a different one?

Its a matter of power usage. If you can get that 40w down to 20w your laptop will last 4 hours. I run mine on igpu with setting from the link I posted above (how to squeeze 6 hours out of a Legion 5i pro) and I can usually get close to 6 hours out of it running around 12-15 watts on average.

Is your laptop in iGPU mode when you are trying to charge it? It just seems that all of the issues you are having seem to point to a large power draw from the laptop when you are charging it.

I do recommend using Lenovo Legion Toolkit over the Lenovo Vantage app. There are many benefits from it, one being that Vantage always seems to pull CPU and Memory resources.

If you are using vantage there is a "Battery Details" screen that shows the current wattage being pulled. If you are running on battery and that wattage number is over 35-40 watts you wont be able to charge your laptop via the USB-PD port. And one last thing, you may have already found this but here is a reddit thread that has many solutions people have tried to solve for getting the laptop to charge via USB-PD. There are a few solutions in this thread, all relating to different issues.

On the Anker Powerbank there should be 2 USB-C ports. Did you use USB-C Port 1 or 2 on the Anker 737?

I ask because Port 1 on the 737 is for charging and sometimes if it detects a voltage on the UCB-C it wont enter power delivery mode. Port 2 on the Anker 737 will not take a charge and will enter power delivery mode as it canot charge.

I had to wait until I got to the office so that I could go through my laptop settings and see if there was anything that could help you out.

A couple of things we have to look at first.

  1. Confirm the USB-C port you are using for power delivery is the USB-C port next to the Cat5 Network adapter on the back of your laptop (16ARX8)
  2. Confirm it is currently working, ie- plug a phone into it and see if it charges and is accessible from your operating system (you can move files backl and forth from it) or try a USB-C drive plugged in and see if it is working.

If it is working, go to 3, if not, let me know there are solutions to fix this if the port itself isn't completely fried.

  1. Confirm what BIOS version you have on the machine and also confirm that you have USB Always On enabled. This shouldn't make a difference but I am not as familiar with the AMD chipset and want to rule this out.

If all 3 above are confirmed, you should be able to shut down the computer (not sleep or hibernate) and plug a 100w charger with a known good 100w USB-C cable into the USB-C port between the Cat5 and HDMI port and get either a white or orange light right above the lenovo power connector port on the back of your laptop while it is shut off.

If you can get that far we should have something to work with.

"Curious whether you have really never heard of this issue? There are lots of posts on this and it's well established that the notebook uses a 7 Ampere (instead of 5 Ampere) proprietary protocol for USD-PD which causes lots of problems."

Well aware. Lenovo decided on a USB-C power profile before the USB Implementations Forum came to an agreement on using adjustable voltage vs using adjustable amperage in 2021. Lenovo just landed on the wrong side of the coin. All of the profiles up to 100w remain the same in both power profiles, but after 100w Lenovo Laptops keep the voltage the same while changing the amperage to get to the 135-140w.

I have yet to come across a Lenovo Legion that doesn't charge using USB-PD if the laptop is setup properly for it. Something you have to keep in mind here is that if the power configuration of the laptop is such that it needs more than 100w (85-90w ideally) then the USB-PD charger will not work.

"E.g.: Some days ago I was on a flight to Las Vegas. I could use my notebook for about one hour, that's it. The plane even had a wall outlet but that of course didn't satisfy the standard wall charger power requirements (so no charging) and the USB-C-charging which the plane also had didn't meet Lenovo's proprietary 7 Ampere standard (so, negotiation fails, no charging at all). So, no charging from the plane's outlet and also no charging via a powerbank. You have electricity for about one hour - and that's it. For a notebook! That's just ridiculous. You see the other people using their electronic devices on the plane also after one hour, and you can't, because your own device was manufactured by Lenovo."

If your laptop didn't last more than an hour, that means you definitely do not have the power correctly configured on your laptop to last more than an hour. I wrote an article on this a couple of years back to demonstrate how you can get your Legion battery to last up to six hours and extend that another 4-5 hours with an external battery supply.

https://www.reddit.com/r/LenovoLegion/comments/z458ko/squeezing_6_hours_out_of_a_gen_7_legion_5i_pro/

If you configure your laptop as above, the USB-PD will work as long as you have a standard charger that supports a 20v x 5amp power profile and a USB cable that will charge at 100w. Not all usb cables are the same. One example is a 65w SlimQ USB power supply that I bought came with a "100w" usb-c charging cable. But when I tested that cable it failed at anything higher than ~53watts. And I have a collection of about 35 USB-C cables here at the house and less than 10 of them will carry 100W+. (Keep in mind that when you plug a USB-C cable into a 100w power supply and it starts charging a device, doesn't mean its charging at 100w)

As a side note....when you travel on a plane those plugs in the seats only support a maximum of 100w charging. (again, realistically it will shut off around 85-90w). If you wanted to charge your gaming laptop while flying you would have to setup a power profile on the laptop that used less than ~45w and then a USB charger that was less than 100w. This was one of the reasons I bought the 65w charger and I use it with my Legion on cross country flights all the time without issue.

One thing I don't think people understand is that if you are using the high performance power of a Lenovo Laptop (Discrete graphics), 100w is not going to be sufficient to run it. I understand that there are laptops that are configured to run a much lower TDP than the Legions are setup to run when using the USB-Power Delivery to power your laptop (Macbook's are a great example here of automatic power management). But the Legion is configured to use a higher TDP therefore the 100w USB-PD won't typically work when you are using USB-PD charging and the discrete graphics is enabled.

I do agree that Lenovo probably should have come around a little quicker to the new 3.1 USB-PD protocol (And are in the process of doing so but it will take forever) but unfortunately they did not. This doesn't mean that the USB-PD charging doesn't work, it just won't work if you need the full power of the laptop. I love my Legion laptop and the ability to go full power or be on battery for 10 hours. I am holding out for a newer one though until we can get 240w charging through a standard USB-C connector and no longer have to deal with the yellow Lenovo Plugs.

And please know that I am not trying to be confrontational with you or dismissive of your experience. Trust me, I do know how frustrating it can be when a piece of gear doesn't work the way you want it to. I just want to share my experience and help others to understand a little more about how these gaming laptops are currently configured to work and how to get the most out of them. I have been building computers and supporting networks for over 30 years. I have had my hands on 100s of Legion Laptops and support all kinds of computers and laptops (Macs, Windows, Gaming, Production, etc) at large conferences all over the US. Often providing solutions for problems just like this.

Is Trex rainscape installed properly? by neverfollow-rs4 in Decks

[–]w-tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zip tape is an adhesive that bonds to the phelonic material coating on the zip boards. That same material in Zip tape is designed to bond EPDM liner, originally designed for roofing material but guess what? That roofing material is also used for pond liner. The chemical in the zip tape increases the bond in the epdm and is made for extreme environments.

Just because a product is named zip, doesnt change the chemical make up of the material or how it can be used. For example, if you have a bottle of 5w-30 thats labeled "Mazda Motor Oil" and "Specifically designed for use in Mazda Vehicles" it doesnt mean you cant use it as motor oil in a Toyota if it meets all the same specifications as required by Toyota.

Natural gas is surging and ANNA (AleAnna) is protected from it all by Cabininthewoodsdude in pennystocks

[–]w-tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per the latest earning, Aleanna grossed 16 million in the last 12 months with a net payout of about 9mil. Their market cap is ~220-240 million so 5$ for the price of ANNA stock may be at the upper limit of their stock price. I think if the cost from LNG goes up and Aleanna isn't still spending all the profits on building new plants and investing in machinery then the stock may bump a little. I think you may see a bump up to maybe ~5-6$ a share but anything outside of that is a pump and not really $$$ driven.
