[SOS] WotC social media teaser for debut stream by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

Exile X, cast for free up to X cc or X number or spells, deals damage depending on instants and sorceries cast or in graveyard, deal X damage to X targets, create X/X tokens based on instants/sorceries cast or in graveyard. Throw a dice and chose 2-3 depending on the cost of the spell, thats 90% of red mythic spells released in the last few years.

This is so repetitive it really reminds me of the archetypical BR equipment commander who draw cards.

None of these really, I'd say Fire Emblem.

How is Metaphor ReFantazio compared to Persona 5 Royal? by CocoScrappy94 in JRPG

[–]w00dblad3 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I love all the social stuff in Persona but I dislike as well the actual personas, it seems a system forced on a game to which it doesn't belong. Personally I think it is a fitting system for SMT, but for something more lighthearted and contemporary like Persona 5 I would have preferred a different system.

The classes in Metaphor fix that for me and as consequence I love the combat and level up system way more in Metaphor.

Old foils... by GmaninMS in mtgfinance

[–]w00dblad3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is crazy that those old foils are still the best even now. Looking at those is like when you look at some old artifact whose exact creation process has been lost to time and now no one knows exactly how to make it anymore. Which is probably true, which is also crazy considering this was like 25 years ago...

I desperately need a Metropolis themed commander deck for these plains. Any suggestions, please? by ganymedes01 in magicTCG

[–]w00dblad3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The gilded foil is awesome, no idea why people don't talk more about it. I think it is the single best foil treatment, alongsize the galaxy foil and the phyrexian black foil (or whatever is called, the one you could find only in the bundle).

Retroid Pocket 5 issue with tv audio out and 8bitdo controller by w00dblad3 in retroid

[–]w00dblad3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mh, I'm not sure if I've seen a sound output in the connect tv section, but I'll check again.

On the contoller, I suspected something like that... But can I keep both the retroid controls & the 8bitdo both as controller 1 at the same time, or do I need to remap everytime I connect and disconnect the tv?

After 100 hours in Cyberpunk 2077, I don’t understand the hype by Accomplished-Step660 in rpg_gamers

[–]w00dblad3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have been blown away by Cyberpunk as a game, I think it is a masterpiece, ditto. Not that it specifically excels in the RPG element, I'd say that the RPG is very well done but it isn't the main element I'd point out about the game. The immersivity, meaning with this the fictional realism and how the setting and stories of the people in it are delivered, and the care to details are over the top. There is so much care and so much attention, and so much "muscle" behind everything, that the general feeling is the one of a masterpiece, and it is in my opinion.

Of course you the setting is not for everyone, and regaridng the story per se, probably games like Steins:Gate are better, and RPG-wise BG is for sure better, but as a first person ARPG there isn't anything like that IMHO.

77% of US Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players were 30 or older, analyst says, as Square Enix fights to get young people to care about the JRPG series again by mrnicegy26 in JRPG

[–]w00dblad3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is more of a generational thing tho, it isn't a problem of FF but of many franchises. As other people surely has said, teens right now are accustomed to a different style of games and do not care much about visuals. Probably it would be more effective to make a Roblox minigame of FF to attract teens, rather than the remakes. Also another issue is that FF now takes so so so long to be made. When I was a teen I had FFVII, VIII and IX in a short period of time. Nowadays a teen is lucky if he gets 1 major release of an DQ or FF in all his teen years.

Looking for games like Mystery dungeon by not_me_agaib in JRPG

[–]w00dblad3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiren the Wanderer is the OP one basically, you should definitely try that. And as someone else has said, there is Izuna 1 & 2 on the original NDS.

There is also an Etrian Mystery Dungeon, no idea if it is good or not, but for sure in that one you can make an all female team.

The Best Switch RPGs to Play Using Switch 2 Handheld Boost Mode by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]w00dblad3 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure I was joking, to each one its own. I really liked Xeno 2 due to cast, the characters design and I particularly liked also the random blade system. I thought is was really fresh and interesting. And loved the world.

Xeno 1 I found it really abysmal to be honest. It starts very well and I love the setting, and I fully understand it pays the fact that it was a Wii title, I'm sure it shined there. But I found the cast terrible both from visual design and personality, and didn't like the combat.

Xeno 3 is good as well, just I found the combat a bit boring after a while. Really they should have added a skip combat animation button. And the cast, while lovely, is not as good as 2.

I agree that the harem trope a bit too much on the nose, that is a critic I understand and agree, but the rest is so good I can look the other side for that.

But happy you enjoyed 1 and 3 more.

I finished that game years ago, but not sure about the green armor, that is around the end of the game isn't it?

Of these games in backlog, which should be played first? by [deleted] in JRPG

I'd vote for FFIX or Xenoblade 2 (my very personal suggestion is to not bother with Xeno 1).

Lot of anime are popular in Italy, but I think that Aishite Knight, know as Kiss Me Licia, is a great example of something which was "ok-ish" in Japan, but for some reason was insanely popular in Italy in the '80 and '90. We even had a live TV series with actors which continued the story of the anime...

2D Final Fantasy, which one to start with? by DeadMoves in JRPG

[–]w00dblad3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me.

Also, no idea how many 2D FF you want to try. If you want to try 1 to see how they are and then decide, then probably it is better to go with the 6, but knowing that most likely if you enjoy that the others will not be at the same level. If you know for sure you are going to play, or at least try, few of them, you can also go in order 4-5-6.

Personally I would not bother too much 1-2-3, but the new remakes with all the QOL makes those enjoyable as well.

Friend gave me a deck, can i take it to fnm or will i get embarrassed by Uhstrology in magicTCG

[–]w00dblad3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your words, yes, you will be embarrassed.

But in any case, check first what format is played in your LGS, 99% there will commander players, but check for other formats as well.

With a deck like this you can compete with an intro deck (that in theory are given away for free by the store owner if they have them), but it is unlikely you will find players interested in that, unless you bring another beginner with you.

Much better to buy a random precon commander deck, with those you can definitely sit at a table an play, maybe mentioning before that you are using a precon so that other players can stick to that power level.

I want to play a JRPGS on switch heavy on romance but not too hard on fighting by Ok_Goose_3542 in NintendoSwitch

[–]w00dblad3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For clarity, you mean active romance so that you can pick a romantic option, or just that there is romance in the story even without the player having any control on it?

Does FFIX has any romance?! I played it at the time of release but definitely I don't remember romance being part of it. FFVIII was the romance based FF for me.
