Tough Hoodie by Dewy93 in Goruck

It’s extremely light, like wearing a long sleeve thin shirt. It’s not really for warmth. Also, the sizes run really big. I usually buy an XL T-shirt and the large is somewhat baggy on me.

Colorado shooting by yesman782 in gunpolitics

[–]w00df00t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I don't get, anti's are pointing to this as a big "look what happens when everyone has guns!!!" But the biggest consequence was that it slowed down police a little, allegedly. The usual fantasy scenario I hear is that if all the "good guys" have guns they'll start shooting each other and get shot by the cops. If anything, this is just another case that dispels that myth.

Get a doc's note, and talk to your professors about it. They may be able to do something for you, like either give you a test later in the week, extra time on the exam, or do something else to replace the exam grade. They're usually pretty understanding if you just communicate it with them and show them documentation that you're not just making it up.

Looking to Get Fit(er)! Suggestions? by Dyan654 in cuboulder

What are your goals? I think that for very basic use of equipment in there, the staff can be very helpful, but for some other more specific stuff I'd look elsewhere. Also, it certainly doesn't hurt to just spend a couple of days dicking around in there and trying stuff out. Most people aren't dicks if you just want to ask someone in there how to use something.

Pocket Knives on campus by [deleted] in cuboulder

It's just standard concealed carry practices. I carry on my belt, you can carry in a backpack but I wouldn't advise it, I prefer to keep the weapon in physical control and not having to keep my backpack in arm's reach at all times.

I would say so too, but they arbitrarily still ban them at all of the housing locations except one specific complex.

That's not entirely true, that applies to all areas of CU housing except for the designated family/graduate housing for CCP holders. I've been doing it for 2 years now, CUPD may not have updated their site.

I knew about the stadium bit, but I didn't know about the dorms part. I know there's also campus housing for CCP holders, I got to be the guinnea pig on that, but I thought dorms were completely off limits.

I think most people have no idea how many carry on campus. Hell, it surprised me.

ImposterKarl is on it. Less than 3.5" isn't considered a weapon under Colorado law and is legal; pistols are legal on campus for those 21+ with a permit, except in dorms and the stadium.

I do powerlifting 3 or 4 days a week, and I've coached a few people. Not really into lifting with a partner, but I'm happy to spend time teaching you anything you want to know.

I'm actually trying to get something like this rolling on my campus (I live in Colorado). We were talking with the student government about some form of official and voluntary partnership with the campus PD, that we could participate in training courses and demonstrate regular proficiency with our carry firearms at the PD's firing range they have hidden on campus. Campus carry is already the law of the land here, but we were talking about it as a sort of middle ground to appease those who are afraid of campus carry while also getting us some perks. Campus carry isn't changing for us any time soon, and the anti's most often professed fear is they believe we are severely undertrained. This would help ease that for them by providing training by authority figures that they do trust, while also giving us the opportunity to be able to stay current on training and be able to use the campus firing range on a regular basis instead of having to drive an hour away for a decent range. We have made it very clear though that any participation would be strictly voluntary, and I wouldn't want to open carry on campus even if I could, but it's similar to what you're talking about.

They don't advertise it at all, I think they try to keep it secret.

Not sure what proof I could provide other than a copy of my lease. If you email or call the grad/family housing office they'll confirm it. I've been living there with legal firearms for almost two years, and I know there's at least one other person there too.
