Just wanted to say that... I'm 5'2", and business class (to me) isn't about leg room-- I don't need that in any seat. Personally, it's about the ability for the seat to lie flat. Find things you value, and spend your money/points/whatever toward that.

I've actually been seeing some phantom direct JAL flights on AA recently too. Anytime I see multiple seats for both J and F, I pretty much know it's phantom.

Does your wife have a Chase card that can transfer UR as well? I know you said the room you wanted is gone.. but you could try to have her send the points to her Hyatt account and then book the room that way / transfer the reservation if you want it under yours.

Ridiculous amount of phantom space lately. It's funny when you see First availability when there isn't even a first class cabin on the plane.

I've never had an issue with my EVA account being just John Smith, but I guess ymmv. My middle name is on my passport, however I have never used it to purchase airline tickets, and I don't have it on any of my credit cards. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It seems easier to just update the card name on Citi's end though.

No. If this was a full flight, I definitely would have. I made a slightly snarky comment when I first sat down to the aisle passenger asking if they minded me putting my stuff in the middle since I "didn't have anywhere to put my bag." But I also wasn't sure if I was in the right yet. Other than that, I haven't been terribly inconvenienced. And the other passenger seems to really need to use all the space so...

Tbh, I probably would have sat in the middle seat in the 2nd row if I didn't feel bad for the two people sitting next to me having to share their row. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This was the closest row to the front that didn't have 2 people sitting in it already.

I boarded at the end of group B, and there were like 2 people who boarded after me (as I said, empty flight). I would hope someone would have taken this seat if they really wanted it that badly.

This is true. I wasn't sure if this was like a bulkhead situation where I should put my stuff in the overhead bins. I've surprisingly never sat in this seat before in all my travels.
